He's made a couple of steals the last couple of games where he came running straight towards the ballhandler who was running forward on the break, then grabbed the ball from him in stride and proceeded toward his own hoop.  It looked like a jouster stealing his opponents lance on the fly by.
Yup

The way he cuts to the basket... oh god.

I've never been more against anything in my life...

Too early for him?

He played well today vs MIA, which was important for me.

I've been on Avery Bradley as long as anybody, in the draft thread i was raving about the kid... I just don't like the Honey Badger thing. I get the reference, I got it with Brad Marchand... Avery Bradley deserves a better nickname than that.

Yeah its not good to force a nickname....sometimes you just have to wait and then something emerges....Most suggestions here are too long and unrealistic for that reason.  I do like "honey" though, because it's simple and because he sticks to the guy he's defending.
In other words scrap the Badger part and I think we're in business...

we have a winner.

how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck was chris bosh?

I dunno.  I call my wife Honey as a term of endearment (not because of her defensive prowess.)
Yup

I agree that a nick should come naturally. But I can imagine announcers calling Avery "Zero Tolerance" when he makes a great defensive play.

How about Baby Joe?

As in Joe Dumars?

He reminds me SO MUCH of Joe Dumars....if AB has ANY semblance of a career like Dumars, we have ourselves a HOF SG, here.

That's actually not so bad - definitely the best one so far...

I don't know about Honey - kinda makes me laugh, though.

sub zero if he comes off the bench off the bench

how about zero tolerance ? sounds like a good name for a lock down defender

Sub Zero, Net Zero, Zero Tolerance all work for me but "honey badger" is hard to beat.

 • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Some great suggestions.
I like:
The Green Hornet
The Warden. (for his lock down defense) haha.
and of course
The Honey Badger

Read that last line again. One more time.
