KG's going nowhere....don't know why we're worried, here.
He'll get a decent contract that is fair for both sides. The man looks to remain a top 5 PF for another couple of years.
KG is cut from different cloth...that's why he stays.
We'll sign Kaman to allow him to move back to PF...bring back Jeff Green, etc...he'll see what Danny does with the draft, and that'll seal the deal.
He retires in Green - along with Paul and hopefully Ray.
At least that's MY hope.
I was thinking this exact same thing until i saw how affective he is at the Center spot. It seems like hes able to use his quickness and ability to hit open jumpers to draw his matchup away from the hoop. It almost looks as if this simple switch is the catalyst to his recent resurgence. Dont get me wrong Kaman would look great in Green but maybe we need to consider KG staying at the center spot for the rest of his career, no?
You make a good point...just in the few clips I saw last night, the man was posting up, taking shots INSIDE (wow), doing center-like things. It's helping the team big time.
But I remembered his comment a few weeks ago about him not liking the center spot...that's why I would consider getting Kaman.
But you are so right, Celtichooligan - the move DOES seem to have restarted his resurgence. The man is playing at 07-08 levels since the move.
I've said it before and I will say it again: Doc Rivers is a BRILLIANT COACH. I know all may not agree with me, and that's ok. But the man KNEW what the team needed...he wasn't afraid of asking KG to step out of his comfort zone, and the results have been very good, to say the least.
Brilliant Move, Doc. And way to show Leadership, KG! Moving to the Center spot at 35 years of age...going up against Bynum, Dwight, etc...I love the man. He is playing every bit worth of the higher $$ amounts listed in this thread, but I'm betting that he will look at what Danny is trying to do in the off-season (Jeff Green, Wilcox, Bass (perhaps), free agents, Ray Allen, etc), and think that he will have an opportunity to keep BOS competitive even next year.
With what I stated earlier - if he demands - say - 12-14 mil as I saw listed in the thread, will Danny be able to execute his plans?
Like some have noted here in the thread, he's already made much money. I don't think Danny will low-ball him, but Danny Ainge NEEDS to WORK with this offseason. BOS has a great chance here in June to RELOAD with draft picks, free agents, etc.
I don't think KG is intent on crippling the team just for money. Even HE said that he wished Greg Stiemsma could get a long-term deal...so with comments like this the man is definitely considering the future of the team.
KG the GM?
But he won't be disrespected with a bad offer, either. Danny wouldn't do that.
