Imagine if he signed to be the Heat's starting center?  Vomit.

Luckily, that doesn't seem like KG's style.

Yikes... That would be absolutely ridiculous.

For the love of... that's ridiculous indeed!

Given that there doesn't seem to be any building blocks out there, I see no reason not to offer KG quite a hefty 1 year extension.  We retain his value, stay competitive, and give the young guys at least one more year of his tutelage.

I bet they'd lose and Nike would give Bron a $300 million contract

they should probably add Peyton Manning just to be sure

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I wouldn't mind paying him around 8-10 million to keep him around. His presence alone in the locker room with our draft picks, Steimsma, JJJ, Moore, Bradley and Rondo is priceless.

Kevin Garnett is the kind of guy that can create a locker room culture that lasts through generations. Get the young guys to embody his sense of team spirit, his attitude. Get a kind of 'Ubuntu' thing going again which he's commented that we've lost over the years.

This guy should be our coach one day. Have him as defensive co-ordinator next to Doc in 4-5 years time. He loves Doc, he loves Boston and he loves basketball. Give him a year or two off to unwind and get him back in the game.
He wouldn't go on TV, but he'd probably coach.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I watched the game and then watched it again tonight. Yeah my wife wouldn't be happy but I helped her set up her computer too tonight so its ok.

It is so much fun to watch the KG we traded for. This is the KG we traded for and who knows how much longer we have him or how much longer he holds up but he has been the best player on the court game after game after game. Every compliant Ive ever had he has answered. He is everywhere on d, he is not just letting o rebounds go, he is guarding the baseline, he is flat everywhere, including the low post at times. I swear the guys on the court are even in awe of him right now. He is very engaged in the offense and Im equally as sure that when Ray comes back KG will not be so active which will NOT be good.

I love this for now and lets worry about tomorrow tomorrow

He even looks happier. Come on KG, score that ball. We may be unbeatable with a healthy active KG

It was fun watching KG tonight.  Everyone will look at the box score totals and think Kevin Love had a decent night against him, but I don't think that's the case.

By my count, with KG on the court, Kevin Love scored 8 pts-- 3 FT, (1) 3 pointer, (1) 2 pointer.  With KG off the court, Love had 14 pts.

KG is still a beast defensively and a good offensive player.  Gonna cost someone to sign him me thinks.

It is great to see KG looking so good since the all star break. Hopefully he can keep it up. It is also great to see Avery become a legitimate player.

Let's see how he does over the next 15 games.  We have some serious teams coming up.  Still... he'll probably easily command 10 mil on the open market.  That's more than a 50% pay cut for a guy who still has game.

Where would he go? I find it hard to picture KG giving a hoot about the Nets or others with the cap space to sign  him . .
Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.

Thankfully he doesn't want to go anywhere else, and that should be good for us in the long run. I'm hoping, though, that Danny will do whatever's needed to keep him around ... this guy is far from "done".

Agreed. The free agent market is bleak. I'm fine with a $10 mil one year deal.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

I think Garnett thinks, delusionally or not, that this team can compete for a championship this season. That is all he is thinking about.  That is why we love him.

They'd be overwhelming favorites if KG maintains his current level or only declines a bit.

The money sounds right to me ($10 million per annum) but I think KG will require a two year commitment given the offers he is likely to receive from elsewhere (New Jersey).

If Danny wants to keep it to one year, I expect he'd have to offer up anywhere from $15 to $18 million.
