I pick Danny Ainge trading our picks  :o

I am not too familiar with this draft. Is it worth trading a combination of our picks to move up in the draft?

Eh, not really. I don't think our two mid round picks could get us up high into the elite talent tier where it'd be worth it.

Trade the two picks to move up and select Meyers Leonard. That is my favourite option.

Sounds like no matter what, Doc's gonna be lobbying Danny to pick Austin if he's available:

He was right in saying we need another player who can create his own shot.

I think that's a bad option.

1) C's need to reload and can get 2 good players instead of 1 by keeping the picks.  C's can fill two spots with young talent instead of one

2) Leonard isn't good enough to justify giving up another player from this draft class

3) Leonard isn't good enough that he'd be selected much higher than where the C's first pick (if that even happens).  give up 2 #1's to move up a few spots for someone that is likely to still be around when we'd have our first pick? not a good deal

4) Even if Leonard is gone by the time the C's pick, Moultrie is more than likely going to still be on the board and IMHO will be as good a pro if not better.

5) Leonard is from the Big 10 -- a conference known for producing busts and underwhelming players.  (hoping JJJ and Moore are the exception to this  ;D  but it was one of the things that gave me concern in the last draft)

I am still expecting Meyers Leonard to go in the 8-12 range.

I know he isn't there at the moment on the mock drafts but I expect him to move up between now and the draft.

I want to swing for the fences with our picks.  No surefire roleplayers, since I don't feel they help us longterm - a roleplayer on a contending team can put them over the top, but a roleplayer doesn't keep a bad team from being a bad team.

We need stars, and at the point in the draft from which we're picking, that means taking a few chances on guys who haven't put all of the pieces together yet.

Terrence Ross intrigues me, as does Quincy Miller.  If Perry Jones III or somebody similar drops to our pick, I'd take them in a heartbeat.  I like Tony Wroten's potential, although I'm not sure he'd fit well with Rondo.  I think Austin Rivers is a guy who could become an elite offensive player and may adjust well to playing off the ball, but I don't know if he'll ever hold his own on defense.

Not huge on the possibility of selecting Terrence Jones, because I see him as exactly the roleplayer-type that I want to avoid.  Add to that the fact that he's inconsistent in a way that would make even Tony Allen jealous.  I put Jeffery Taylor in this category as well.

Also not high on Royce White.  Ball-dominating tweener forward who won't be allowed to do the same things in the NBA.

I do like Arnett Moultrie.  Good size and length, he has very good athleticism.  The worries are that he lacks some strength at this point and that his size and length didn't translate to blocked shots.  But like I said earlier, you won't get a player with no flaws at our picks in the draft, and I think he would play well with Rondo.

Undecided on Dion Waiters.  I do like his game, but I think he's more of a combo guard and would therefore perform best as a gunner off the bench.  I have to admit that I'd love to see Bradley and Waiters playing defense together, though.

Now to stop rambling and to answer the question, my picks would be Ross/Miller and Moultrie, although I'd be watching closely for droppers on draft day.

I'm wondering what people see in Zeller, considering he's
a senior in college and still lacks some strength.
I don't know his game...

Is he a great passer?  Great on fast breaks?  Great jump shot?

I worry about defense and rebounding due to less than average strength.
I'd rather sign a big and draft a couple of nice wings...

If we got Rivers & Zeller or Rivers & Melo we'll be on a good track to the future. Just think Myers Leonard will be gone.

Check this link out if you're up for a read.  It breaks down his game pretty well.

The main selling point for Zeller is that he's a legitimate 7 footer who runs the floor.  Both his individual offensive and defensive abilities need improvement, but those are aspects that can be taught and improved upon with time.

Offensively he relies a lot on his hook shot.  He either needs to improve his triple-threat ability or put on some more bulk - ideally both.  Defensively he is a shot blocker but also has great instincts, he's one of those big men that knows when to challenge and when to take a charge.  Again, if he adds some bulk to his frame he could be a franchise center in the NBA, not a lot of those guys come around.

Is Moultrie like Marresse Speights? Lots of talent as a scorer/rebounder but a horrible (team) defender who will take as much off the table as he puts on it?

Is that a good comparison for Moultrie or is way off base? I haven't see Moultrie play. It's just something that crept to mind when reading some of those scout reports and how incompetent he was as a team defender and how bad his team was overall defensively despite having such a gifted and athletic big man on their squad.

Thanks for info!  My natural inclination is go for someone who already has the strength and bulk....but sounds like he could prove a lot of doubters wrong and make some teams regret..

Tyshawn Taylor sounds very interesting as a late first round pick.
