I'd love to see us add Greg Oden, if he has any interest in agreeing to a two-year deal at the minimum.  There's not a huge incentive for him to do so, though, so maybe it's a pipe dream.

The Celtics would gain more for next season from signing Jermaine O'Neal to the minimum as a veteran third-string center.

I was hoping they'd go for Renaldo Balkman to replace Marquis Daniels (not talking about his roster spot - cut JO - just his role).

Give them an undersized swing forward who could defend, hustle and, most importantly, rebound.  It's the role they've tried to give Quis this year, but one he's failed to hold on to all season.

Right now there is a sizable gap at the 3/4.  They've been using Pietrus in that role, instead of as a 2 (his best position) who sees spot minutes at the 3.  That's had the ripple effect of keeping Dooling in the rotation as a 2-guard.

Ray/Bradley/Dooling as guards/wings and Pietrus as a swing forward - that's just unacceptable rebounding-wise when you're playing a big as weak as Brandon Bass on the boards 35+mpg.

Bring in Balkman and you'd add a good rebounder, move Pietrus to a place where he's a good rebounder and rid the rotation of our worst rebounder (Dooling).  Wouldn't solve our rebounding problems, but it would reduce them.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

If we need a big I'd put Jermaine's twitters to a test.  Put on a wrist brace, play 10 minutes a night in playoffs (oh be in shape by the way) defend, set picks and box out, you don't even need to rebound if you can't use that hand.
I'm not sure Pietrus is going to back anytime soon.  I can see him missing the rest of regular season  :'(
If we are going to add someone might be a good idea to find the best athlete available with a brain or a vet who is smart.  Pick a size!  Anyone from 6'5"-6'10".

Unfortunately, he can't contribute.  Otherwise he'd be playing.

And that has been today's sermon on the Divine Infallibility of Pope Doc the First.

February 12th, 2012.  Boston vs. Chicago.

JaJuan Johnson - 33 minutes, 6-13, 12 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 1 block, 3 turnover.  Boston wins 95-91.

Yeah, we're definitely talking about a player who can't contribute.

I'd like to see the C's add Eric Dawson.  He's had two 10-day contract stints with the Spurs this season.  I like his upside.  He's got a bangers body and not afraid to mix it up down low.  In his last game with the Spurs he put up some good numbers in a short span.  He's not a veteran that Doc would like, but to be candid, I think he's already better than JJJ.  Would he play much here?  Probably not, but the Spurs didn't re-sign him for the season because of Diaw's availability, and their need for another backcourt player.  But I'd like for Danny to give his name consideration, though I don't think he will...

With Pietrus out and Bradley filling in for Ray, the 2nd unit desperately needs a scorer.  I know that he doesn't play D real well, but Morris Almond can score and could help the 2nd unit.  He's currently playing right under Danny's nose in Maine.  Heck, just give him a 10-day contract for now.  He's got some SICK shooting percentages.

For what reason?  He's a rookie. (technically)..Therefore he'd never play.

Technically, he's not.  He played two years for the Jazz, was overseas, and has been in the D-League for a few years.  He could give us more offense than Dooling or Daniels could at this point and is a knock-down shooter.  He's also a decent rebounder for a two-guard and is a legit 6'6".

Sweet, one game. Tony Delk scored 50 points in a game, we should just go ahead and fast track him to the hall of fame.

I'm sorry but these are all statistics and therefore meaningless  ;)

No they wouldn't, it's basically the same risk only one guy is 10 years younger.

Lantinm,

Great find on Morris Almond!!  I agree that our bench needs some scoring punch.  Did everyone watch that awful performance last night by our bench against the worst (by far) team in the league??  Yes we were shorthanded, but the Bobcats' bench obliterated us!!  Humiliating.

BTW, Morris is 27 years old!!!  Been around for a while and has consistently shot at a high percentage!!

Get him Danny!!  (You will owe Lantinm at least a lunch Danny:-))
