I was hoping they'd go for Renaldo Balkman to replace Marquis Daniels (not talking about his roster spot - cut JO - just his role).
Give them an undersized swing forward who could defend, hustle and, most importantly, rebound. It's the role they've tried to give Quis this year, but one he's failed to hold on to all season.
Right now there is a sizable gap at the 3/4. They've been using Pietrus in that role, instead of as a 2 (his best position) who sees spot minutes at the 3. That's had the ripple effect of keeping Dooling in the rotation as a 2-guard.
Ray/Bradley/Dooling as guards/wings and Pietrus as a swing forward - that's just unacceptable rebounding-wise when you're playing a big as weak as Brandon Bass on the boards 35+mpg.
Bring in Balkman and you'd add a good rebounder, move Pietrus to a place where he's a good rebounder and rid the rotation of our worst rebounder (Dooling). Wouldn't solve our rebounding problems, but it would reduce them.
