Stiemer also changed a bunch of shots.

I know he's not a great defender, but he is getting better and better.

Our Rondo-Bradley-Pietrus-KG-Stiemer second unit is a GREAT defensive team.

Finally an explanation on Stiemer's feet:  a bone bruise in one and plantar fasciitis in the other.

Doesn't sound like he's about to skip a game because of it, however:

If we had another with a line like that we could move KG back to PF and go with the C by committee.
when doc went to the twin towers they looked good, kg was only starter left on court and we pulled away

I think greg is a year away from being a nice backup.

Stiemer's looked good with KG (the little they've played together) all year.

Obviously any advanced metrics on the Steamboat are skewed due to inconsistent minutes, but according to basketball-reference, his defensive rating is currently a 91, which is pretty [dang]ed good. If he maintained that for an entire season of regular minutes, that would be a top 25 all time (KG's best defensive rating for a season was 91.61).

Now, don't misquote me, here, I am not saying that he is THAT good. His numbers are skewed because he doesn't get many minutes, and he hasn't really been forced to match up with a good offensive big man (which are so rare in the NBA anyway these days). So while you would expect that number to fall if he got, say, KG's minutes, in all likelihood it would still stay pretty elite.

(Dwight Howard is currently 93 in defensive rating, and is considered 1st in the league because Steamers hasn't played enough minutes, in case anyone is wondering)

I hope Boston takes care of him. He can be a player for us.

He's definitely played like someone worth bringing back for next year as a backup, possibly THE backup center.  Danny still needs to get a healthy, starter-quality center for next year but I think Steimsma may be a good backup off the bench for us going forward.

He's looked better than many of the backup scrubs the team had in the 80's.
