Anyway, welcome to the Celtics family, Sean.
When you lose, the easy part is to see who gives up. Giving up is very simple. You basically take your stuff and walk away. To continue to work and to continue to compete is one of the most difficult things, especially when you really don't have anything - KG

Should the Celtics waive Jermaine O'Neal and fill the slot with an able-bodied player who is eligible for the playoffs?  I think we can all agree with the answer to that being yes.

So, what position do the Celtics need to bolster?  Big man depth seems like the obvious answer.  Sean Williams seemed to do a decent job as a fill-in when the Mavericks were hit with injuries to Brendans Wright and Haywood, enough so that I was a bit surprised they waived him to sign Kelenna Azubuike.

There's enough upside to Williams that I hope he has an unguaranteed deal for 2012-2013.

What this signing possibly means is that Brandon Bass gets to rest if Doc decides to rest his starters.

wow , a lot of hate for Williams in this thread, I get it , he is a bone head and seems to lack motivation ,but the guy definitely has talent.

Not sure if KG can do anything with this kid, but if he could motivate him at all it might be worth the pickup. Williams was a lottery talent about 4 or 5 years ago and while he hasn't developed , he really hasn't had any veterans around to help .

Hell he can't be any worse than Hollins ,who committed 4 fouls in 2 mins last week.

I expect it's a trial run to see if he is worth pursuing in the off-season.

They probably want to get an up-close look at his work ethic and personality issues before deciding if he is worth the trouble.

good move in that he's an extra body. we don't have enough of those at the 4/5 at this point, what with the ridiculous series of injuries we've had. if nothing else, this might let us rest KG, Bass, and the Steamboat (who's been playing hurt for a while now) during the final stretch towards the postseason.

I'd take a flyer on him. He has some serious mental/emotional issues but his talent is undeniable.

7-foot black version of Delonte?

I have been saying Williams is too dumb and unskilled to be an NBA player since he entered the league...and now I am going to completely ignore that, and be a huge homer now that he is in Green.

Anyone know if he is still banned from BC's campus?

Could the C's have signed two worse big men to man their bench than Williams and Hollins?

Good signing. Doubt he's going to be a cancer as some suggest. Way too much leadership on our team to allow that to happen. He also won't contribute much this season. That said, the move is good for two reasons. It signals that KG and Bass will probably get plenty of the rest the next 3 games, and we needed an extra big to allow that to happen. Plus, it allows us to get a close look at the youngster with the possibility of bringing him back next season if he shows both promise and some maturity.

TP to the southshore from the northshore.

Low risk, decent reward. Another athletic player and another shotblocker.

Wanted him for awhile too. Don't understand so many people not giving this guy a chance.
