The Clippers are far away from being contenders. Personally, I think Griffin has hit his ceiling already. I dont think, with his game he is going to get much better. He is incredibly explosive and can finish at the rim, but has no low post move and isnt a great jump shooter. With Del Negro as his coach I cant see him getting much better at defense either. Chris Paul was a great addition and I like the young and butler moves as well. But the cippers still need a lot of depth and some experience if they want to call themselves contenders.

Griffin's not anywhere close to his ceiling, and he's probably the best example of why the Clippers need a new head coach - the biggest problems with his game are pretty fixable. He dribbles WAY too much, and ends up shooting too many long 2's when his range is fairly limited.

He needs some structure. He should be robotic; set picks, drive and finish. Honestly, this team could benefit so greatly from Mike D'Antoni, even if it meant pushing CP3 a little out of his comfort level pace wise.

I worked through the numbers on Hollingers 9 teams fighting for playoff spots, it really is weird to see 3 teams projected as having roughly 65% chance to make the playoffs due to a projected 3 way tie for 8th at the momemnt.

I think it makes sense, if you think of there being two spots for three teams. Each team has a roughly two out of three (65%) chance.

Honestly though it seems like this Del Negro thing trumps the numbers.

Post moves and the ability to hit a jump shot are areas that young players can certainly add to their games.

Also Griffin can become a much more effective defender with more experience and work.

Yeah, I was mostly shocked that the average record for all three teams came out the same.

I have my doubts, even with the easier schedules of the Knicks/Bucks that they'll keep blowing teams out like they have been. Still tonight is  a big game for the C's/Bucks for the playoff race.

Not kidding, I don't see how firing VDN could be anything but a positive for this team.

I love the idea of Chris Paul with Mike D'Antoni but I wouldn't hire D'Antoni if I were the Clippers.

The rest of the team is built to play with a power lineup rather than a quick finesse game that D'Antoni likes. They'd be creating just as many (if not more) problems as solutions for themselves by hiring D'Antoni.

The Clippers won't be a contender until DeAndre Jordan matures as a basketball player and becomes more of an impact player.

He simply isn't ready, and until he is, neither will the Clippers.

That or Griffin expands his game and becomes an MVP caliber impact player rather than an all-star level one.

I've always felt like Hollinger's system overweights the "last 10" numbers.

Knicks play the Clips in the last game for both teams. Could be interesting for both races.

Knicks winning could potentially give us two lottery picks! (By knocking both the C's/Clips out of the playoffs)

Man that'd be a weird game to have to watch, I'd be torn to say the least.

You're probably right, though I think they could make some simple transactions - specifically at the wing - to make the roster better suited for his system.

Still, they're probably talented enough that they could just hire a competent coach to right the coach. McMillan and Paul could be a good fit.

The ping pong balls bounce right and Boston comes away with the 1st and 14th picks in the draft.  How much of a genius does Ainge look like then?
