I don't care what seed we are as long as we don't have to play MIA or Chicago in the first round.

I almost want the celts to play one of those two teams. If we lose, then it was expected. However, if we win, and the chances of that are much higher than some think, then the losing team, preferably the Heat, is utterly shamed beyond comprehension.

I say bring it on. Once we hit playoffs, it's a whole new ballgame.
Gotta play them sooner or later, might as well play them first.

Is it possible for one of them to knock the other out in the 2nd round  :-[ ???

I would rather us ease into playing the Heat or the Bulls...a solid first round win in 5 or 6 games would do wonders for our confidence and team morale.

No, they won't play one another until the Conference Finals. Gotta beat both to win the East.

I don't think confidence is an issue for a team as experienced as Boston is. They are a former NBA Champion. They'll believe they can beat anyone, anywhere at any time. I don't think there is any benefit to be gained from going through another series prior to playing Chicago or Miami.

Once the playoffs start, they'll have that confidence and self-belief instantly. What happened in the regular season won't matter a [dang] to them. One series at a time. Just like in 2010. Best of seven.

Winning the division is a very good goal for the Boston Celtics. It is still very attainable with Philly regressing to the mean and the failure of the Nix getting their act together. I still am very hopeful they can take the division and make it to the Second Round.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
This might seem like stating the obvious but how we do the rest of the season will tell us everything we need to know about this team. From now until the end of the year our schedule is extremely difficult. If we can win the division despite our schedule I think we could be in line to make a deep playoff run.

Consequently if next year we want to make one last run with KG, Pierce, and Rondo a deep playoff run would be the best marketing the Boston Celtics could create for potential veteran free agents trying to win one last title. Rebuilding is good but the best way to attract free agents is to be good while simultaneously having cap space.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Regardless of what happens in the rest of the season, getting to the ECF should be regarded as a championship, and regardless of where the finish Ray Allen and KG can't comeback unless it's on short money/years.

That being said... I'm really enjoying watching this team scrap out games.

I gotta tella ya I'm a bit miffed at Danny. This team has a punchers chance IMO. How could he not move one of those deadweight contracts for some help? JO & Wilcox are done for the year. and he could spare a measly 2nd rounder to snag Hickson who probably could have been had for less than that considering he's being waived... I get not mortgaging the future on a team without at least a 50/50 chance at the big dance, but not even throwing these guys a bone when they are out there killing themselves for us? Help could have been had at the deadline without much sacrifice (Dooling/ONeal/Wilcox for Kaman + a 2rd or Hickson for dooling + a sack of old jock straps).

Its not like the price was high for those gusy & Hicksons bird rights could have been valuable as a S&T asset..  >:(

Homecourt advantage only matters if we are going to the playoffs, and we're not. The Bucks and the Knicks are going to pass us.

We only won tonight because the Hawks threw away the game. Even though we won, it was a perfect example of why they are actually better than us and will finish out the season with a better record.

You need to spend more time on the blog and less time looking at the standings and watching games. It will keep you from getting these crazy ideas that we're not terrible. I can't believe Danny didn't trade Ray for Gerald Henderson and a 2nd Rounder

HAHA GERALD HENDERSON AND A 2ND ROUNDER.. i really hope you're kidding.  The C's are in good shape.  We just need another big body and we'll be fine for the playoffs.. Remember Defense wins championships and we're still an elite defensive team.  Just wait til the playoffs you lil pessimistic losers.

Why on earth would the bobcats give up Gerald Henderson (Jordan's personal project/toyboy) AND a second rounder?
I don't know where these rumors come from but please use some logic. You think Danny would pass that up? And you think the Bobcats would offer that? (Okay maybe they do have terrible management but for god's sake).

I'm not sure how the Knicks are going to over take us. The Bucks might but as long as Ellis is chucking 25 shots a game they aren't going anywhere- check out their schedule.

We won tonight because of our usual defense. We made it the game we wanted it to be. A low scoring, defensive slug fest and suckered the Hawks right into that style of play.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Think you need to change the title of this thread to: so everyone realizes the East blows right??

We should all be thankful our team doesn't play in the West...
thats funny cuz we would be .10 percentage points behind the number 7 seed nuggets if the playoffs started today we would be in both conferences. I kno we aint the same level as the past few years but we dont suck as bad as this site makes it out to be

I could have sworn it was Celtics who nearly threw the game away, not the Hawks.

Some people only see what they want to see.

Last night, the Hawks and the Magic were probably the only two teams in the whole league that Boston could have beaten.  Anyone else would have blown the Cs out of the water and into orbit.
