A little suprised he didn't go to San Francisco.

Same here.

Gonna be weird as heck seeing Manning in those godawful Broncos uniforms.

I can't seem to digest this. I guess he's not comfortable running Harbaugh's offense and wants to run his own.

GOD I'm so disappointed being a fan of both Peyton and the Niners. This is hard to digest.

Sounds like he's getting 5 years from Denver, not sure if San Fran was willing to give him that much. To be honest, the teams aren't that different. Fantastic defense, both have poor although young receivers, San Fran has the better running back, Denver has the better offensive line. It's not that farfetched a decision, although I would've been a Niner in a heartbeat in that situation. Harbaugh's a nice sell, but so is John Fox and John Elway.

NFL contracts are usually shell games.

Take Mario Williams deal, its really a two year $40 million dollar contract that has a $10 million dollar roster bonus that if exercised after the second year tacks on the last 5 years of the deal.

Until the details of 5 years 95 million come out we don't know. All reports indicate that San Fran/Titans/Broncos were all comfrotable with the price tag to sign him.

i was hoping he'd go to the titans.

that way he'd get to play the colts twice next season and completely torch them.

i hope the nfl sets up a broncos/colts game (in indy) at some point during the season.

The teams are finalized for the schedule, and I don't believe they'll be on it. It's a fixed system.

ESPN is now reporting that Tebow will be traded after the deal is struck.

I wouldn't be shocked if it was to Miami. If a team trades for him I hope they try to run a version of the university of Florida's offense.

Probably the right move. FA's will go to Denver now they can go for defense in Denver now. They'll have the best O-Line in football next year. They were a great running team last year. Defense will be solid maybe very good. Honestly all they needed was a QB and they got one of the best ever with somethiing to prove..

And Tebow is not an NFL QB. His passing is abysmal in a league that begs you to pass..

They had Kyle Orton at the start of last season and they stunk.  And you can't look at the rest of the season and say there really were a whole bunch of games they would have won except for Tebow.

There's no denying how bad Tebow frequently looked, but there's not a lot of reason to think the Bronco team that was successful playing Tebow's way can also be successful playing Peyton's way.  A lot depends on what other free agents they get, of course.

Comparing Kyle Orton to Peyton Manning is just not fair to either one. I'll agree and disagree, though. The Broncos have a terrific defense, especially with the pass rush. If Manning can get them up early, then Miller and Dumervil will have Freeney/Mathis like impacts when they can just go after the quarterback, period.

Offensively, Manning isn't a cure-all. The Broncos were a running offense last year, but that was largely because of Tebow. It's not like they have a great option there, unless you love Moreno or McGahee. They're okay. The receivers are young and talented, but once again it was largely system-based. Thomas is a physical specimen, but he played the option offense in college and again last year. At no point has he shown that he can run any sort of route properly except the "run straight and hopefully you'll be really open because they think we're gonna run because we've run 60 times already" route. Decker is more sound, but he's not as athletic. It's a nice, young group but we just took Fells from them and they are going to have to get far more polished. Luckily, though, Manning's the guy to get that done.

I beg to disagree on a few things. Moss, Manningham, Crabtree is WAY BETTER than Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker. SF's receivers are not poor. Add Vernon Davis who's basically a receiver playing tight end. Delanie Walker too. Who else the Broncos has.

The O-Line is pretty close. Clady is a Pro Bowler but so is Joe Staley. Jonathan Goodwin is a former Pro Bowler and a Super Bowl Champion caliber Center.

The defense, NOT EVEN CLOSE! Von Miller, Elvis Dummervil and Champ Bailey (put in Brian Dawkins too) over Patrick Willis, NaVorro Bowman, Justin and Aldon Smith (who SHOULD HAVE BEEN the Defensive Rookie of the Year)? DaShon Goldson is a Pro Bowler at the secondary, and if and when they sign him Carlos Rogers. Denver has good defense, Niners have the fantastic defense.

And I haven't even included the special teams, who on average would give Peyton a sure fire good to great field position.

In the end maybe it was the money, SanFran maybe does not have that cap flexibility to give him 5 years/92 million. I also guessed it came down to Harbaugh. I believe HE WILL NOT let Peyton run his own offense in SF, that might be the big reason why he did not choose to go to the Bay. But if Peyton really wanted to win another SuperBowl, he's stupid for choosing Denver and not SF.

Yeah, the Niners probably have a much better receiving group, I'll give ya that. The offensive line we'll have to agree to disagree on. I watched a decent amount of both team's games and the Niners line was just not very good, any yards Gore got seemed to be self-manufactured, while the much worse group for Denver had a much better season. Just look at the YPC numbers - around 5 for Denver when the defense knew they were going to run every time, and 4.2 for San Fran. Big difference.

The Niners did have the better defense, of course, and it's only going to get better. But, the Broncos were a top 5-10 defense themselves and have some nice pieces. I'd take the San Fran defense every time, but both teams can point to defense as a selling point.

The coaching staff decision probably played a huge role, with Denver just being more comfortable for Manning. In the end, my point wasn't that Denver had a better (or even close to as good) supporting cast as San Fran, just that it's not completely ridiculous to pick the Broncos.

See, I'm not so sure the defense is quite as good as people think.  In the first 5 games last year, they Denver D gave up 23, 22, 17, 49 and 29 points.  They Tebow came in and the defense played extremely well for the next 8 games, though it still surrendered 45 points to Detroit and 32 to the Vikings. It then gave up 40 points in 2 of its last 3 games.

Broncos are a quality defensive team, and will probably be better after the draft and FA is over. They will almost def sign Saturday to an already very good O-Line. The thing about getting names like Peyton suddenly people want to play for you. Broncos will be better than the Niners next year almost assuredly..
