That's of course if Ainge would have taken him. I would like to think Ainge would have.

If wonder if he would be playing under Doc. Seems like all rookies are in Doc's doghouse the minute they hit Boston. The only time any really play is if Doc has no choice.

I don't think he'd have played much to start the season (scrap minutes) but after JO went down, Faried would have gotten a fair bit of time as the backup PF. Probably 15-18 minutes a night. And then in the 20-25 minute range after Wilcox went out.

Nope. Not with Rivers. 3 or 4 years from now, when Johnson is a good pro, people will have blurred memories of him playing  a lot this season. I'm putting it in writing:

"Right now, 3-17-12, the Celtics only have 4 healthy big men on their roster. And JJJ is one of them and his does not play unless it's a blowout".

I didn't watch the game tonight, but I saw Faried play against ATL. Love that kids energy. He's gonna have a great career.

He would definitely be playing.
He is much stronger than Johnson and has a nose for the ball like Zac Randolph- although his interior defense is pretty weak.
He works well on the nuggets because they are an offensively minded team, so Faried letting 10-15 easy paint points get scored on him means less than it does if he were playing in our system were interior defense is much more important than scoring 110-120 points a game.

You can't compare JJJ to Faried. Faried's rebounding instincts are NBA level already- we saw that in college and it's why he went that way in the draft.

Steimsma is getting a run but people seem to forget about that.
JJJ just isn't physically strong enough to compete inside yet.

Agree. He would have been behind Bass and KG at PF. When guys started going down I'm confident he would've established him as the manimal he is. Maybe even before that. If he was grabbing rebounds and outhustling everyone in limited minutes Doc would've found a place for him.

Doubt it, Doc only plays rookies if they have all-nba level defense.

Offense and Rebounding is an afterthought to Doc Rivers.

I don't think Doc requires all-NBA level defense, but I have no problem with him sitting players, even if they are making shots, if they don't seem to be buying in to the team defense.  I'd rather do that than sit players who do play defense but can't buy a basket.

Big Baby could contribute, so he played.  Powe could contribute, so he played.  As much as we need size right now, if JuJuan Johnson could help this team, he'd be playing.  So lay off Doc already.  Personally, I think JJJ is terrible and will have the same career that every soft, 6'10", jump shooting PF, who plays no defense and can't rebound has.  A short one.  The only reason he's on the C's is because of his height.  He was just another body to fill a roster spot, at a time when we were desperate for size.  In fact, our ENTIRE bench is put together out of desperation.  With MAYBE the exception of Pietrus, none of our reserves belong in the NBA, and in four years or less, none of them will be in the NBA. 

I assume the people that call out Doc for not playing the rooks are kids.  When I was young, no matter how bad they were, the rookies were always my favorite players.  Or at least I always wanted to see them play.  As I got older, I learned how to evaluate talent a little better, and I understood why the rookies didn't play.  For every basket you watch JJJ make, Doc sees him make 5 mistakes that you don't see.  Stiemsma, Bradley, Moore and JJJ are not NBA players.  So don't get mad at Doc for not playing them in NBA games. Oh, and this link also says you're wrong.  Good day, kids.

heck naw, not with Doc coaching. His talents would rot on the bench until all of our front court men got injured, like Leon Powe, Glen Davis... etc

I love Doc, but I really hate his reluctance to give young guys a chance to play to get better in game & not just practice. >:(

agree, faried is nba ready, reminds of gerald wallace quite a bit
steimsma is putting together a nice rookie season, i hope they resign him/extension  doc didn't throw him into the fire but has brought him along nicely
