If he can at least play in the level of Sam Bowie in New Jersey, I'll take him if the price is right.

only for a low price, low risk high reward...

I believe Oden can still play...he's just unfortunate with the injuries that he have...

at this point even if he can play, he probably won't be all-star level but he could still make a good role player for 20-25 minutes a game

It would be a short money move to bringing and get him acquainted with the medical staff, but why would Oden do it?

Oden is represented by BDASports, which also reps Rondo and JJJ.  Maybe's Ainge's picking JJJ will steer Oden the Cs way.

I believe Oden will get on an NBA court some day soon and he halfway decent.  For you youngsters, Bill Walton missed almost three full seasons in a row before getting healthy enough to join the Cs for their 1986 title.

After all the crazy luck this team has had with health issues lately, they could use a break.  I'll make a prediction, Oden will come back to the NBA and be at least as good as the last two number 1 picks who ended up playing center for the Cs - Kandi and Pervis.

Source confirms that the Blazers have waived Greg Oden. What a sad, sad ending. Told he's going "off the grid" to try to finally get healthy

Sounds like he might take a break from the NBA to heal up and make a return when he is ready.

I'd probably sign him to a veteran minimum for the rest of the year just to get the medical staff in there to take a look and see what they can see.  If it seems like he may be ok, offer him a short term low money contract this summer and hope you get lucky.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Greg Oden waived - can we get him?

Yeah, but I wonder if he would be worth the project for next year.

Just like our other bigs. We can't seem to catch a break. No one's gonna throw us one for free either.

I am not sure what his recovery time is, he might be out all next year as well.  I just think he is at the point where he needs to prove he is healthy for anyone to give him a contract.

He is a guy I would throw a short term contract in the offseason to see if a change in medical staffs can make a difference.

Don't really care whatever team he ends up in. He's young and can afford to take time to really heal.
