Source w/knowledge of Blazers' thinking says team has informed Greg Oden's camp that Oden is being waived for needed roster room after deals

should we go for him?

a fitting way to end the big three era would be to get Oden here for basically nothing, even if he's a shadow of himself

No.

I suppose if literally EVERY other option falls through, including D-Leaguers, we could go for the million to one shot that he can contribute at any meaningful level.

But ... no.

I'd like for us to go for him next year just because he's the kind of pipe dream I can rally around.

But he isn't playing this season.  He just had another microfracture surgery, right?

He's out for the season and who knows when (if) he comes back next season.  Since he's an unrestricted free agent it doesnt' many sense for them to hang onto him.

I'd grab him for cheap this year and help him recover just to grab him before anyone else does. It can't cost us much more than a roster spot, and we can sure get rid of a few useless guys (Dooling, Pavlovic, Quisy, JO)

It would be a good PR move.  We just totally botched the deadline and set this team up to fail this year in the playoffs.  Signing Oden would be funny.  Ainge's way of saying, "look... not only did I bring you guys a title when we missed out on Oden... but I just signed Oden without giving up anyone.  Where's the love?"

lol

I'd be surprised if someone else didn't sign Oden.

The most the Celtics can offer is the minimum. I'm sure another team out there can trump that.

Celtics now need Rasheed, Kaman, Johnson, and Oden.
