So many other teams made deals we could have made. Denver got Mcgee for a pile of dust. Seriously?

Umm  Denver gave up the better player in Nene to get McGee...

So no help on the bench, no help with a big. Remind me why I should bother watching this team get knocked out of the 2nd round of the playoffs this year?

So many other teams made deals we could have made. Denver got Mcgee for a pile of dust. Seriously?

Was Danny just not trading so he can shed the "Trader Danny" nick-name?

We will have a ton of money to spend on who exactly this off-season?

Great job Boston. I am looking forward towards to years of barely .500 ball. If I wanted that I could save money, drop league pass and watch The Rockets here in Houston for free on local cable.
you're dead wrong man.

We're getting knocked out in the 1st round.

But it's ok, because we have 25 million in cap space that we can split up amongst stars like Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Brandon Bass and Jeff Green.  So we'll be back on top in no time.

Why do you think Ainge will sign those players?

Because it's our best available option.   Think we're better off giving OJ MAyo a max deal and having 8 million left over to give Chris Kaman?  (saying goodbye to KG, Ray, Bass and Jeff Green in the process)?

OJ Mayo's not getting a max deal from Boston or anyone else.  But what if you sign him, Kaman, Green and Bass to reasonable deals, then resign KG and Ray at a discount?  That's what Ainge has the ability to do this offseason.

Mike

Tell me how you'd split up the 25 million to do that.  Are they all taking 5 million each?  Memphis isn't going to match that?  Keep dreaming.

Where are you getting 25? Garnett and Ray alone count for 30. Throw in O'neal and you have more.
You dont' understand cap space, brotha.   If we RENOUNCE the rights to KG, Ray, Green and Bass, JO, etc (by renounce i mean ... no longer having the rights to them... making them unrestricted free agents free to sign with any team)... we will have 25 million in cap space.

You only obtain that 25 million in cap space by giving those guys freedom.  THEN you can split up that 25 million however you see fit.

KG/Ray will be let go or reupped at a much lower total. O'Neal will just be renounced.

Their cap holds won't inhibit the C's spending this offseason.

What you figure KG and Ray get?  8 mil each?  So we'll have 9 million to play with.  Just enough to maybe sign Jeff Green and Bass.  Do you have a better plan?

I don't think there's room for Bass, but OJMayo, JGreen, and Kaman could split $25M to play with Rondo and Pierce next year quite equitably.

Rondo/Bradley
Mayo/1st Rd.Pick/Ray on Minimum?
Pierce/Green
KG on minimum?/JJJ/1st Rd. Pick
Kaman/Steimsma

If this rotation has a chance with them, do Ray and KG stick around for one more round at the minimum for 2013?  2014??

I Thought Ray and KG were unrestricted FA's.

Edit. Forgot about "Cap Holds" [dang] CBA!!!

Mayo is a RFA and so is anyone else worth attempting to sign this summer. Know what that means? We'd have to overpay to get them away from their previous teams.

I expect an offseason like this. However I think kg retires after this year. I think the free agent acquisitions will give us a decent team. The most important aspect of this team going forward will be the development of young players.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Face it the "Big 3" aren't that valuable anymore. No contender is going to trade a core piece for them and no rebuilding team wants 35-year old aging superstars. So most moves end up being lateral at best. Would a contender want a Ray Allen? Sure Chi for example but they're not willing to give up anything valuable when they already gambled and lost with Rip.

Realsitically this is about as good as we could do..

The deadline may have passed, but there may be a player who is bought out to give us some big man depth. I commend Danny for not screwing up team chemistry this season by trading for a player who iis not a good fit.

If Ray and KG are back, it won't be for the minimum. They'd probably play for less, but would still cost a good chunk. Considering what KG is going at the 5 recently, he's almost earning his current paycheck. Why doesn everybody love Mayo so much? He's not proven hat he can consistently perform at both ends and I'm not sure he could ever be "The Man" in Boston like Pierce.

Yeah that guy is the first I've seen that thought Denver didn't get completely screwed. Much not watch very much basketball.

As far as not making a move, the right deal just wasn't there. I'm more interested to see what Danny does on draft night. We'll have cap room and two picks. Do we trade the picks for a better pick or players. It's going to be interesting.

We should have gone all in or just gotten what we could for at least KG, Ray, and JO and tanked the rest of the season and hoped to get lucky in the lottery.

As is this team will make the playoffs and lose in the first round, possibly second round, but what good does that do as it just prolongs rebuilding (by making the pick this year worse).
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I honestly think KG is worth $10m for next season and Ray closer to $5m.  I would offer them one-year deals with a one year player-option, so they have at least one season where they can't be traded without their consent.
