the pick is top 3 protected, according to Woj:

The proposed 2012 draft pick the Nets would send to Blazers in Wallace deal would be protected only through the top 3 spots, sources tell Y!

Okay, if this is true -- that it's the Nets own pick, and is only top-3 protected -- then that makes a lot more sense for Portland.  We couldn't have come close to that.

I would have given them Pierce for that.

Take the protection off it and yup.

Although if Danny's gonna trade Pierce, I pray its to a west-coast team.

Well, NJ's going to have plenty of motivation to win more games down the stretch with that pick gone.

Good trade for Portland.  They'll likely get a top 10 pick out of it.  Maybe put a nice piece next to Aldridge and Batum.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

NJ should have gotten more like Crawford for Farmar too. That pick can still be good. I wonder whether Crash can get NJ the 8th seed. Milwaukee is better now.

that was my thought.  that is a terrible trade for New Jersey if the pick is only top 3 protected.  Now if it was top ten protected, makes a lot more sense or if they got Crawford for Farmar, makes a lot more sense.  Just a bad trade for New Jersey all around.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah

The pick is Houston's lottery-protected first-rounder, so if Rockets make playoffs, it's Portland's.

I'm pretty disappointed we didn't trump this, then.  We could have offered expiring contracts + our own pick for Wallace.  I would have done that deal, because Wallace is a perfect fit for our team.

Seriously,

KG
Wallace / Bass
Pierce
Ray
Rondo

I see that team as a second-tier contender.

Yes, that would've surely been a nice lineup for us.

I'm beginning to wonder if in the offseason, Doc and Danny sat down, waited to see Austin Rivers' stock, and now are saying "ok, we've got a chance to draft your son." Seriously. Why else would Doc re-up with us for 6 yrs, knowing that the big three are on their way out?

I wouldn't want Wallace as a PF.  When he played that position to often with the Bobcats, concussions were a major issue.  I believe he is at a point where one more could end his career.

Reality check on Gerald Wallace.  Dude turns 30 this year and is averaging about 13/6 per game, which are also his career averages so it's not like you can expect much more out of him.  If you can get a non-top 3 lottery pick in this draft for him, that's an epic steal.
