Yeah as it looks right now, Dwight may stay in Orlando one more year..
This doesnt leave us with a whole lot of options at the C spot.
I personally love JaVale and thinks that he would be a great fit with Rondo.
But then i saw this;
Quote
A source close to McGee disputed an ESPN.com report that the 7-foot-1 center has informed the Wizards that he is looking for a contract averaging $14 million this summer. The market for serviceable big men has already been set in recent years, with DeAnde Jordan signing a four-year, $43 million offer with the Clippers and Joakim Noah getting a five-year, $60 million extension two years ago. McGee is one of five players averaging at least 11.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and two blocked shots.
I think that 14 millions is way to much for a player like McGee. He has alot of potential but is still very raw.
But as said there isnt a whole lot of options would yall sign him?
Jack of all trades, master of none.

I wouldn't sign him for $10m.

I'd take him for $8-10. Double-digits? Nah.

But seriously, that sounds horrible. McGee is a good player on a bad team. He's a turnover machine and he doesn't have the awareness I'd want out of a center.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Nobodies going to give him that. McGee and his agent both know that. Especially when you consider what Kevin Love just signed for, 4 years 62 million (15.5 million per). It's just a negotiating tactic, what he will probably end up with is in the 10-11 range. Imo, what he's really worth is 9/10 million.

I don't think he's a good player.  He's an adequate player who has the physical tools to become a good player, but lacks the intelligence to ever be likely to fulfill his potential.

I think with the proper coaching and a PG like Rondo to play with JaVale McGee could mature and become a 15 PPG, 10 RPG, 2-3 BPG center that would be a bargain in the $10-11 million per year range.

On the other hand, he makes Rondo look like Ray Allen at the FT line, and he might not mentally mature and just be a stats guy on a bad team type of player.

If expiring contracts and the C's first rounder this year and a future 2nd rounder would get him, I would do it and try to extend him. I think he's a better bet to become something going forward than anyone the C's will get in the high teens in the draft.

I would very much prefer McGee over Kaman due to his youth and upside.

I think they'd offer a comparable overall value in the immediate sense (albeit in very different ways) but McGee can actually be part of the Celtics long term future.

If we traded for him, once he gets here you tell him like this. "Dude you are not better than Rondo! And he only makes 11per so you were saying what exactly?" 5yrs & 45 million? I think we could do that. 3rd banana at best is his ceiling.

Yeah but for that reason our package of a few picks and experings won't land McGee.

If they paid him based on his basketball IQ...He wouldn't make minimum wage...Let alone league minimum.

I expect him to sign his qualifying offer then be a ufa three next year. No one is giving him close to that.

That is exactly the salary I'd expect his agent to open negotiations with and I'd expect him to accept a salary somewhere in the $12-13 million range.

And I think McGee will get that offer. Centers with elite athleticism and his potential don't come around very often.

McGee would be glued to the bench if he played for Doc.

You really think Doc would stand for a guy like that? He would be in his doghouse overnight.
