bradley and JJJ for Mcgee?
I don't think the Celtics trade Bradley. That article by the wizards guy is based on conjecture from a hoopsworld guy.

Well, we could always acquire him and then call his bluff this offseason.  We could likely make a sign and trade with him if push came to shove.

I would very much prefer McGee over Kaman due to his youth and upside.

I think they'd offer a comparable overall value in the immediate sense (albeit in very different ways) but McGee can actually be part of the Celtics long term future.

Except McGee has the basketball IQ of a nat. Seriously, Kaman would be a great addition for this club. We need a center and the options have dried up unless of course you want Perk back.

I have the strangest feeling JaVale McGee will be a Celtic at this time tomorrow.

With Wilcox officially done for the season, something has to be done. And it seems as if he is the cheapest big man on the trading block.

I'm just ready for the trade deadline to pass...

Is he the second coming of bad news barnes or could he turn into a tiny archibald (or insert name) type of guy with not the best reputation but the celtics family makes him into something.
I'd rather okafor , mcgee has too much ricky davis in him (unless its super deal)

I would be one of few people who wouldn't be upset by this. Asking for 14 MM isn't that terrible. A lot of people start negotiations with a huge figure knowing that it will come down. I would much rather trade for him now even though it would cost us than sign him outright in the summer. I think a playoff run around veterans would mean a ton to his growth as a player.

I'd take Okafor...but I just don't want Kaman.

Okafor's oontract is huge though and he's a little undersized for my liking. I like my Centers to be 7 footers.

IDK JaVale intrigues me...I see something special in the kid.

Agreed.

I know everyone hates "overpaying" for big men but there's a reason they're overpaid. They are a necessity if you want to be a contender. And he's only 24...hasn't even reached his prime yet. This team could desperately use his 12 points and 9 rebounds per game.

I wouldn't want JJJ to go if he didn't have to...what about Pavlovic and/or Quis? And do we really need Turiaf?

Not to mention he's second in the league with 2.5 blocks per game. If you look at what Wilcox did running the floor with Rondo, think of what McGee would do. He's longer, faster and can jump higher. He could get us 8 a game just on oops.

It could be amazing. I really am ready to see what he can do for us the rest of this season. And if it works out...Rondo, McGee, Green...nice little core to get the rebuilding process started. Would definitely be a fun team to watch.

IQ usually implies capability rather than an achievement level.  If this applies to Basketball 'IQ' then we would presume someone with a low one would not have the capacity to significantly improve.  On the other hand, I wonder what his history is in terms of coaching received and years of basketball experience. I realize that some players are naturally gifted in understanding the game and its nuances.  Some can 'see' the floor and have both the cerebral capacity to understand the game and the feel or sense of knowing what will happen before things actually happen.  I am sure some can be taught, some can be learned through experience, and some just is embedded (or not) in the player's DNA.

Anyway, wondering whether time with KG could do the kid some good.

I'd love to have McGee, but I don't think he comes without Blatche, which complicates matters in a quite negative way.
2023 Historical Draft: Toronto Raptors

Point Guard: Anfernee Hardaway, Fat Lever, Terrell Brandon
Shooting Guard: Paul Westphal, Paul Pressey
Small Forward: Marques Johnson, Danny Granger
Power Forward: Jermaine O'Neal, Bobby Jones, Kiki Vandeweghe
Center: Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka
