Mike D'Antoni is out as New York coach b/c players wouldnt listen. Last year it was Jerry Sloan b/c Deron Williams wanted him out. The list is very, very long. Only way u can last as an NBA coach is to let the players do what THEY want. If u are a player coach, then u will stick around but if u try and tell them what to do, U FIRED!! Awful.
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Part of coaching is being able to get the players to listen to you.

If you can't, then it is likely time for you to go.

Magic Johnson got his coach fired in his second season, and it wasn't a new thing then.  And Jerry Sloan was about as harsh on players as any coach in league history, and he lasted 20 years at one job.

It's not about letting players do whatever they want, it's about winning, and the players respecting you, in that order.  D'Antoni wasn't doing either of those, so off he goes.  Same as it ever was.

Poor leadership. Doc got Pierce to listen and change his game. D'Antoni couldn't do the same for Melo, so D'Antoni's system was failing.

It's not the Knicks player's fault. It's not D'Antoni's fault.

It is New York's managements fault. The style of players and style of coaching were non-compatible. They should have either fired D'Antoni sooner (I would have fired him the day they acquired Melo + Billups) or they should have a built a team that could play D'Antoni's system.

Bad management.

TP Exactly. That team lead by D'Antoni was a square peg trying to get through a round hole.

Well, D'Antoni was there before Melo (as was Amare), so Melo was the square peg.

Well, George Karl sure seems relieved that he doesn't have to coach Carmelo Anthony anymore.  I'm not calling 'Melo a bad guy.  Maybe one day he'll figure out how to use that immense talent to more positive effects on the basketball court.

D'Antoni probably deserved to be fired.  I'm not shedding any tears for him.  He simply was not getting the most out of a ridiculously talented roster.  It remains to be seen if anyone can get more out of them.

Could Mike Brown be next?

All is well in LakerLand right now, but I'd wonder what would happen once the next losing streak happens.

And it will happen.
