Bynum is quickly becoming every bit Howard's equal.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here.  Playing with another big like Gasol makes everything a whole lot easier for Bynum.  Imagine what Howard would be like if he came to Boston and played with KG, even in his declining years.

Mike

Not really sure how I'm getting ahead of myself.  Yes, Howard is still the better overall player, but not by much.

Bynum is better offensively, Howard is a better defender and rebounder.  Right now, the biggest difference is durablity.

As far as playing next to Gasol, I think that it is irrelevant to my point.  Bynum has legitimate post moves.  You can give him the ball in the post, let him operate 1 on 1, and expect him to score against any center.  Howard has almost zero post moves.  Stronger centers can easily limit him 1 on 1.  Just look at how KG was able to limit Howard, but struggled against Bynum.

How is Bynum better offensively? They shoot almost the exact same # of FGA's a game, shot almost identical FG%'s, and the biggest difference is that Dwight Howard gets to the line about twice as often as Bynum does, and is the first option on his team. I think you could make the argument that Bynum is a little more refined offensively, but I don't think you can make the argument that he's the better player on either end of the floor.

And defensively, its not even close.

Let's just put this in perspective and lay the blame where it should go.

If you draft a top 10 NBA player who is also one of the most recognizable people on the planet, for the luv of CATS, please surround said player with legit young All Star talent. Don't go the older veteran route.

Sure, you will win a lot of games, maybe even make it to the finals, but in the end ur star will leave u faster than you can say, "Somebody set up us the bomb."

Yes Danny Ferry and Otis Smith, I am talking to you.

Also, the best part of D12 going to the Nets w/o compensation is that BBD will be the focal point of the Orlando offense next season. I can't wait to see him jacking up 23 shots per game.

It isn't, because everything Bynum does on offense and defense is easier because he's got another big as good as Gasol playing alongside him.  That means opposing teams cannot focus on Bynum the way they do on Howard.

I believe the trade contract Bynum for Howard has been on the owners desk for a month at least.  Its not Otis Smiths decision anymore (yea or Ney) when it comes to DH.  Otis would have traded already... it s the only logical thing to do if you want a certain good value. Even he can see that.

Otis has been trying to drum up some talent to make DH rethink his decsion.

The owner has been sucking up like crazy thinking he can get DH to stay.

And basically , I think all of this is setting up Orlando for a HUGE letdown . I believe as others pointed out DH wants to play out the season at Orlando. (love em and leave em)

Blame TV ocntracts , Nike , and all the mega media exposure, that pay the players millions more than their team contracts. CHeck out ROses rosie deal in Chicago.

If DW just wanted rings , he'd take a pay cut and join one of several teams that would be instant contender with him on the club.

Thats not waht he want, basketball is down the list .   MONEY , enough to make him in TOTOAL  team pay and endorsments the highest paid NBA player.  TO do that he needs the largest market to garner the highest paid endorsements.  Thats in the NYC, NY hood folks ...where millions of kids are waiting money in fist to buy ALL HIS endorsements.

This sorta makes him the MR HANEY of the NBA peddling his products to all the kids in the city.

I believe even if he gets traded to LA..... he'll never stay....where ever he lands ..he'll run as hard as he can go
BACK to NYC/NJ to get that endorsment contracts signed ASAP. Where he can sit on his throne as slum lord of the tennisshoe business.

The lawyers all have him pointed in the right direction to make money for DH and themselves.... make no mistake , they are pointing him to the Nets no matter what.

Follow the trail to the biggest purse and you'll find DH.

Eh, we just disagree then.

I don't think there is any question Bynum is the superior offensive player.

He's the superior post-up player, sure.  But better offensive rebounder?  Better at taking passes around the rim and finishing?  Better at running up and down the floor for easy baskets?  Better pick-n-roll finisher?

Why is he a punk? If he wants to join the Nets as a free-agent, it's his prerogative (I don't believe he's actually decided anything). Why should he come clean now? If he did that, I bet the same people would accuse him of being a punk and disloyal. Do GMs come clean about their players movement plans?

People now call players punks when they ask for trades and when they say they want to play their contracts. It seems to me players will be hated regardless of what they do.

Doubt he would be a punk if he was here in Boston dunking on everyone and giving us a chance to with the finals.. He has the chance to become a FREE AGENT key work FREE. The Magic are probably the ones to blame here. They kept breaking up teams that did well, and gave him nobody to play with. If they were smart right after the lockout was lifted they should have sent him to Jersey for lopez and whatever else. Instead were hard-headed and tried to keep him.

I really dont understand what the Magic front office is doing.

Either he signs an extension or he gets traded, he should have been dealt a long time ago.

Thats my view at least. If a player doesent sign an extention it means he doesent want to play there, so ship him out and get whatever you can for him before he walks away for nothing.
