The GMs for both teams admit they made mistakes and ask for a do over.

LOL!

it's still too early to see how the trade really turns out.
but funny stuff nevertheless....

I want a center who can play in the fourth quarter and not tempt Doc to go with a smallball lineup.

Good point.

Yes.

Thunder just laugh.  No way they give him back.

I mean, who gives away a starting C in the middle of season for a title contender.   >:(

How about we make the trade for baby? About the same production and he helps other guys get rebounds as well. Does things that don't show up in the boxscore (charges) and he improved that team from last year and are better defensively because of him!

I'd seriously consider it.  The only drawback is the length of the contract and the cost of the final year.

For those that point at his rebound numbers, what's being overlooked is that Perk actually helps his team get the rebounds, even if he isn't the one grabbing the ball.  Go back and watch any old games with Perk on the C's --> he boxes his man out where no one else does.  We need players smart enough to do that because we're getting killed on the boards this year.  He's also solid at setting picks which we have't been as good at this year either.

He's not the most mobile or healthy center but there's no doubting this guy's effort and heart.  He wants to win and loved being a Celtic.  I'd take him back if he can pass a physical and his knee and shoulder look good.

Im not sure I buy this. Do you have any evidence besides me having to watch 100's of old Celtics games?   I mean garnett is pretty much rebounding and playing the same d as he did with perk. Can the same be said about perk in any facet of the game?
if you know of a site that tracks boxing out, feel free to check it out.  I don't know of one.  I do remember watching the games and seeing first Big Al then KG getting easier defensive rebounds because Perk picked up the closest opposing player and got between him and the basket.  was he perfect at it, no -- Thib's defensive schemes often had Perk and KG in motion covering penetration so they weren't always in position but Perk would constantly find a guy and try to box him out.
Based on this trait, I do buy into the statements/beliefs of others that feel Perk's absence in 2010 Finals game 7 allowed LA free reign on the offensive boards and that if they had Perk, LA   gets many fewer offensive rebounds and as a result, less second-chance points.

An awful rebounder and offensive player who can't stay on the court, has bad knees - and has "changed the culture" of OKC to the point where it is a mediocre defensive team...and we want to give up an expiring contract AND a first round pick.

Yeah, OKC would say no - but that makes them stupid.

Thank you. This just made my day.

And for  those who wouldn't want to pay Perk $7.1m this year, Ainge is paying JO and Wilcox over $9m together, and was planning to pay a backuup SF $9m this year before he failed his physical.

If anything, this makes the point for me. Wilcox and Jermaine are both better than Perkins this year. They are both expiring deals (I think Wilcox is expiring). So that's 2 players on short term deals better than Perkins for approximately the same amount of money.
