So a lot of trade chatter has surrounded the Blazers about dumping felton and crawford, it has also been known that they might blow it up and just build around batum and aldridge....

.. so where does that leave Gerald Wallace... a prime money dump candidate.

IDEA: Wallace (9.5 mil) for JO and Quissy's expiring deals works... idk how portland views this but we might need to include a first rounder but also might not depending on if they decide to blow it up.

Why the C's do it.... we clearly need a big man and he is very skilled. I know he isn't a center but I see Danny as a buyer in the next 2 days and not a seller. He might as well go after someone like this and attempt the last title run we celtics fans will see for a while.  Secondly... we are not getting deron or dwight next summer and the other free agents are awful, no one i see as a cornerstone of the future in my opinion. Wallace has a player option for 9.5 and if he wants to pick it up great, he is better then the other free agents out there and won't allow danny to botch free agent spending this summer and hold out for better free agents the summer after...
Lemme know your thoughts... maybe I should just call Danny up and put the idea in his head ha

Thanks, "A. Sharrod DiRaimo".. my nickname

I seem to recall, early on in the season, rumors of a 3-team deal involving Gerald Wallace and Dwight Howard (can't remember the 3rd team, Jersey?).

The Blazers were said to be getting multiple (three, maybe four?) 1st round picks for Wallace.

I think Ainge would have to offer more than expirings to get Portland to even listen.

Wallace has an 11 million dollar player option for next season.  There's no way Ainge is giving up that sort of cap room right now.

I think those first round picks would go to the Magic in a rumored dwight deal. He's worth one first though.

If Portland would agree, I'd absolutely do this, even with a first rounder included.  I think Wallace would bump this team up into the second-tier contender bracket.

He'd be perfect for our team in terms of matching up against Miami, as we could neutralize Miami's small ball lineup by having Wallace cover Lebron.  He'd make the team much better, as we'd essentially have a more talented James Posey on the roster.

Of course, I'm not sure what Portland wants, or if they'd do a deal for only one #1.  However, I wouldn't worry too much about his contract; even if he opts in, it would be an easily tradeable asset.

I think Portland trades G-Wallace if someone gives them two low first round picks.

If it's only first rounder, the pick needs to be in the early to mid teens to be enough.

Wallace has stated that he is going to opt out next year.

1.  That's not legally binding.

2.  He could blow out a knee.

3.  You can be sure his agent will sound out several teams before Wallace opts out and if they don't like what they hear?

And just so everyone's clear, Wallace turns 30 this year and is averaging 13.4 points and 6.6 rebounds in 36 minutes.

If we did this trade and picked up anybody of remote competency who is over 6'10, which isn't easy, then we are in the conversation again. It'd be a no-brainer.

I still think he'd give the C's a tremendous lineup with Garnett at the 5. A physical cutter instead of jumpshooting that we already have in Pietrus/Bass.

I absolutely agree.  I also don't think Danny has high hopes for this summer and has his eyes set on 2013 or beyond.  So even if Wallace stuck around, no big deal.

I saw the 9.5 mil on hoopsworld for wallace.. idk if there is a trade kicker in his contract or something that bumps it up to 11 million a year... but my point is who would you rather spend our cap on next year.. that you would ACTUALLY consider a #1 or #2 tier player to build our next championship around?? We aren't getting dwight so why spend foolishly when Wallace's deal comes off the books the year after when the names such as Millsap, Al Jefferson, and Josh smith are all attainable as unrestricted free agents.

Just trying to bridge the gap to winning without having years in between in which we are awful
