Although Jack may be a better player than Bradley I'd rather have Bradley or Dooling at backup. So no go on Jack.

Ariza would be interesting though. That would be a pretty good trade for just a 1st round pick. Even if his contract is pretty big.

Ariza is a great piece and is certainly worth a low first-round pick. However, given his contract and our cap situation, I'm not sure we should pursue him. A team with Rondo and Ariza as it's main players isn't going anywhere.

Jack just costs too much for someone who's slated to play behind your best player.

Do you all realize that Jack has almost a +16 Efficiency Rating this year??

Dooling is a +3 and Bradley a 4.29.

Also, Jack could play some SG with Rondo.

This is a no brainer with the Clippers' pick.

Please take off those green tinted glasses.  Pietrus a better player than Ariza?  Really?

Ariza has almost a +15 Efficiency Rating this year and Pietrus has a 6.56.

Do you really think that Pietrus is a better player than Ariza??

No question Jack or Ariza would be definite upgrades....but for a first I'll pass.

If we can move Ray for a big I'd be interested in Jack for a first ( Ariza's contract is too big of a hit on our future cap)
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Yeah I wouldn't mind something like this. I think Jack might be better, at least defensively, at the 2 and he and Pietrus could hold down the fort if we got another quality big from Ray.
2023 Historical Draft: Toronto Raptors

Point Guard: Anfernee Hardaway, Fat Lever, Terrell Brandon
Shooting Guard: Paul Westphal, Paul Pressey
Small Forward: Marques Johnson, Danny Granger
Power Forward: Jermaine O'Neal, Bobby Jones, Kiki Vandeweghe
Center: Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka

Honestly I haven't seen any trades swapping Ray for a big that have impressed me. If we go the route of trading Ray away I assume it will be for a first.

How about this?

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=6ntyfox

The 9 man rotation that Doc seems to want to use in the playoffs would be pretty formidable:

Starters-
KG
Pierce
Kaman
Rondo
Ariza

Bench-
Bass
Wilcox
Jack
Pietrus

However, it probably means we'll have to give up both our 1st rd picks (at least that's what NO would likely as ask for) and go for a strong playoff run this year. Admittedly it's unlikely, but I do like the way that team matches up against anyone.

I dont see the need for Jack and I dont think Ariza makes us better unless we make a bigger deal surrounding Allen. Im not a huge fan.

We need a big man.

What about JO + protected 1st for Kris Humphries?

Dude can board and he's making 8 million and looks to be a FA after this year.

  • The shortest answer is doing the thing
Clippers look really shaky and are sliding back in the tough WC. I could easily see them finishing toward the bottom of the playoff bracket and giving us a decently valuable pick after all. Giving it up isn't worth the marginal upgrade and the loss of valuable cap space this offseason when the team isn't good enough anyway.

Why would we give away future draft picks when our future picks will be good? Listing this year's depth chart is irrelevant. We won't be giving up any first rounders for the sake of just this year.

These are the kind of guys that are easy to pick up as free agents and we have plenty of cap. No reason to give up our chance to draft quality players for guys who are just average. I suspect are hoping for end of the draft 1st rounders from contenders who need another piece.

Jack is averaging 15, 4, and 6, is a solid defender and shooter, and is signed at a bargain through the end of next season.

I really don't see why NOH would give him away for anything less than say, a late lottery pick (which is what the Spurs got for George Hill last year).
