The guys that can help us the most this season to win it all include:

Lamar Odom
Shawn Marion
Leandro Barbosa
Michael Beasley
Andrea Bargnani
Chris Kaman

Clips 1st + JO --> Beasley
Dooling + Bradley + 3rd team stuff --> Barbosa
Hope Odom or Kaman get waived and try to get one of them or both
Otherwise Bass + something --> Marion or Odom

Beasley, Odom, and Marion provide size and can help with rebounding
Beasley can flat out score, as can odom and marion especially with rondo distributing the ball
Barbosa is a nice running buddy with Rondo, kind of like tony allen

adding kaman to this current group would make us a drastically better team.  We have a gaping hole at center... you could almost put anywhere there other than Jermaine O'Neal and improve.

  • Rondo = Good
Of that group, only Beasley is conceivable.  Barbosa might be available, but it would require a 1st round pick.

Even if we got Barbosa, Kaman, and Beasley, I'm not sure it would make us a contender, though the team's chances would be much better.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

What does Barbosa do that makes this team better?  We've got enough guys who can chuck threes.

A rebounding center though?  That could definitely improve our chances.

If Danny could get Kaman, he has my vote for GM of the year

This team is a legit center away from being a contender. That was true last year when we lost Shaq and Perk, and it's true this year when we did not add a center to the roster.

I'm not sure where you find the center at this point but Danny told us he would replace Perk and has yet to do so.

I hope a center is still at the top of his list of things to do.

I think KG can be that center.   Then we need a PF that can board.

KG flourishing at his current role as Center.

Michael Beasley on second unit would be tremendous. Somebody you can throw the ball to and get buckets.

While the Perk deal may not have been what Danny wanted, let's not romanticize the past.

Perk is putting up 6.2 boards a game this season. When he was here, he played slightly more than half of a game and was rarely on the court at the end of games due to his overall offensive liability. The same is continuing in OKC. People like to forget that when we won in '08 it was PJ or Posey who closed out games.

And listen, I loved Perk while he was here. But let's not overstate what he was and is: a strong defender with limited athleticism who could get some boards but hurt the team offensively.

Would he be nice to have back? Yep. But he wouldn't solve all the team's problems.

It took me a long time to warm up to Perk, but he'd help solve a lot of our problems. I'd say the same about a healthy Jeff Green too though.

seeing jeff green on the bench today in that suit, let's me know that he's staying.

Any upgrade on JO makes the Celtics a better team.  Basically any breathing NBA big who can grab a rebound, not get pushed around and not get injured every other week will do...
