If you were Danny and you wanted to create an ALL RUNNING team for next year who would your 5 starters be?  You can make realistic trades before the deadline or sign free agents in the offseason.

PG - Rondo
SG - ?
SF -  ?
PF -  ?
C -   ?

To run you need to get stops and rebound the ball. For this reason, Dwight Howard would be ideal for a running team.

PG - Rondo
SG - ?
SF -  ?
PF -  ?
C -   Dwight Howard (FA signing)

If we build a running team we need one that plays D.   Modern incarnations of the running have not.  But the Lakers in the 80's and C's in 60's played D and ran and did quite well.

Josh Smith and Howard would be the best shot blocking tandem in the league.

  • Rondo = Good
Josh Smith and Howard would be the best shot blocking tandem in the league.

There hasn't been a defensive front-court tandem like that since the Pistons' Wallace and Wallace.

I think I like what KG and Wilcox can bring together up front.

It think Pierce and Green will be a nice threat on the wings.

Bradley seems able to get the ball over halfcourt and starts the offence with only 4 seconds off the clock, and does this rather consistently.  His quickness and pressure D make him a great backup to Rondo.

Ray is always a threat when he's on the floor, and he's veteran smart.  He can add a lot off the bench.

Beasley backing up Green.

Bass is a good backup PF and is best on the boards in a more open, free flowing game where switches and mismatches often negate his size disadvantage.

2nd units run best when everyone can push the ball and score/get rewarded for running.

Rondo / Bradley
Pierce / Ray
Green / Beasley
Wilcox / Bass
KG / Kaman

Not too bad to try for one more year?

i like this but replace ray allen with austin rivers. Ray is just a tad too slow for a fast break running team.

Nutcase, awkward, lunie, crazy, complete maniac. And it's all in a positive way. Would love that.

Celtics have to build a half court rebounding team first

I agree that if Rondo stays the next Celtics team has to be built around running...

With a running team we would need the following from each positions.

PG. Push the pace, and attack the rim (Rondo fits)

SG/SF one must be able to trail the play and hit the 3, the other should be a above average both athletically and length wise for the position and great at finishing

PF. either a 3pt shooter or great athlete/ finisher

C. defensive rebound... must be able to dominate defensive boards to create the break

lineup without the dream situation (D Howard)

potential players draft or FA

SG (Avery Fits nice as 3rd guard of bench

Draft Rivers(shooter), Beal (Shooter),J Lamb(Long Athlete),  D Lamb (Shooter), Ross (shooter)

FA Gordon (Shooter), Mayo (Shooter),Meeks (shooter), Barbosa (shooter, fast)

SF (J Green fits well if healthy long, athletic and shooter)

 draft Q Miller (long athletic),

FA Batum (Long, athletic, can shoot),W Chanler (long, shooter)

PF

draft J Henson (super long, athletic),A Moultrie (athletic)  P Young (athletic), J Macadoo (athletic

FA R Anderson (shooter), JJ Hickson (athletic)

C
draft T Zeller (runs the court well, rebounding?)

FA S Hawes (rebounder),O Asik (rebounder),R Lopez (rebounder?),McGee (athletic, IQ??)

my reasonable roster 2012

PG Rondo,Avery
SG Barbosa(FA), (option 1.Draft River)
SF Pierce, J Green (option 3. draft miller)
PF R Anderson,J Green, (option 2. Draft Henson), J Johnson
C  Asik,

my best case (-minus D Howard) 2013

don't see this working out cap wise, unless ray + kg play for min

PG Rondo, Avery
SG Gordon (not to max deal), Ray (cheap)
SF Pierce, Q Miller
PF J Green (comes back healthy), JJJ
C KG (cheap),Asik,

pg- rondo (can you imagine his assist numbers with a running group?)
sg pierce-he's a trailing 3 pt threat if not in fast break right away
sf green
pf josh smith (from ray allen & bass trade)
c dwight howard (free agent signing)
