Really, people wouldn't give up a late 1st rounder for Beasley? Yes, the kid has problems but if you've actually watched him play (which I suspect quite a few of you haven't), his offensive talent is really undeniable. He has the tools to become a perennial All-Star.
He's always been on the immature side, but look at the situations he's been put in. He started his career with the Heat - a notoriously immature guy in South frickin' Beach? Did anyone expect that to end well?
Then he got moved to Minnesota. Last season, pre-Rick Adelman, that was a team going nowhere. No direction, just praying for Rubio and riding Kevin Love as much as possible. Still, Beas averaged 19 pts last year. This year, he's taken a step back following the loss of his starting role after being out with a foot injury. But he's still got the talent to be a great player in this league. If Minny wants JO + the Clips' first for him, you do that deal. See if he and Rondo can be kindred - albeit flawed - spirits; Beasley won't hesitate to shoot the ball so he can be the go-to scorer we'll need down the line should Rondo remain a Celtics.
Worst case scenario: it doesn't work and we sign-and-trade him this offseason. Best case: he flourishes here and we have ourselves a building block for the future.
