Seriously, what is the sense in all this Rondo shopping on the part of the Celtics brass? To make a point about who's in charge or something?
First of all they're not going to get a fair return on him if they trade him. The league knows Rondo is not popular with the brass, and they will offer up their spare parts for one of the best PGs in the game and easily the best player on the team. Anyone who honestly thinks that we're getting Williams or Westbrook out of this is smoking some serious kine.
Secondly, when does trading away your best player EVER work out in pro sports? I know people get angry that players can be prima donnas sometimes but that's the nature of the beast. What do we have sans Rondo? A team WAY past its prime with no real ability to attract good players or retain players. This team of codgers won't get out of the first round without Rondo.
Trading away the "cancer" D-Will worked out awesome for the Jazz!! Toronto and Cleveland are so excited to be finally rid of Bosh and LeBron I'll bet.
Time to realize it's not 2008 anymore and no one is coming to the Celtics to play with Avery Bradley. Don't build around Rondo, trade the Big 3 to get a centerpiece that can play with Rondo. Guys like Bass, Beasley, Green, JJJ are perfect compliments to play next to a Rondo and a great bigman. It's time to get real here..
