Seriously, what is the sense in all this Rondo shopping on the part of the Celtics brass? To make a point about who's in charge or something?

First of all they're not going to get a fair return on him if they trade him. The league knows Rondo is not popular with the brass, and they will offer up their spare parts for one of the best PGs in the game and easily the best player on the team. Anyone who honestly thinks that we're getting Williams or Westbrook out of this is smoking some serious kine.

Secondly, when does trading away your best player EVER work out in pro sports? I know people get angry that players can be prima donnas sometimes but that's the nature of the beast. What do we have sans Rondo? A team WAY past its prime with no real ability to attract good players or retain players. This team of codgers won't get out of the first round without Rondo.
Trading away the "cancer" D-Will worked out awesome for the Jazz!! Toronto and Cleveland are so excited to be finally rid of Bosh and LeBron I'll bet.

Time to realize it's not 2008 anymore and no one is coming to the Celtics to play with Avery Bradley. Don't build around Rondo, trade the Big 3 to get a centerpiece that can play with Rondo. Guys like Bass, Beasley, Green, JJJ are perfect compliments to play next to a Rondo and a great bigman. It's time to get real here..

No you're not. I don't even participate in any of the trade threads.

It depends on the return.

If the Celtics get back a young star player or an older star big man, I don't have an issue with him being traded.

If the Celtics get back a list of role players, then it was a horrible idea.

I'd move Rondo for anything more than 80 cents on the dollar.

I don't think trading away anyone is a horrible idea until I see what they get in return.
There are a number of players I would trade him for, but I could say the same for Pierce, Ray, KG, etc. None of them are the best player in the league so of course you would trade them if someone gave you a great deal.

No -- but Danny Ainge and Doc Rivers don't. They seem pretty fond of it. The cat's out of the bag, so they're not going to get one player of equal value. They're going to get risky bits and pieces.

Unless the Gasol deal happens, which would be a complete stain.

Yea, Is that supposed to be a bad offer? I'd take that in a heartbeat.

First off, Curry is not a PG. And he's not an equal player it's just that simple..

He struggles to stand up and run on a day-to-day basis is his early 20s, and he can't defend Yi Jianlian's chair.

To answer the thread titles (and to echo others thoughts here), no, you're not the only one who things trading Rondo is bad news bears.

But, I'm not the only one who thinks trading him is okay, depending on the package coming back.

The issue isn't really how you trade Rondo or what you get back.  The issue is WHY you trade him.  If you want to get rid of a character because he's a bad teammate or has character issues or you just don't think he's good enough, that's one thing.  Shipping out your best player because he doesn't get along with your coach?  THAT'S a horrible idea.  In a personality conflict between a good-to-great player and a good coach, don't you always have to go with the player?

I'm for letting him go finally, few months back I was a hard core fan,I have my limits...  my last nerve is shot everytime I see him grin and throw a STUPID hotdog pass that doesn't work.If this bothers me ..I KNOW it bothers DA and Doc..

He can go but not for nothing ... but I want equal or better player in return.

Send Curry or Pau

Please.
