I hate the thought of Rondo not being a Celtic. But if management is hell bent on trading him, what can be done? This passed the trade machine, and I would only do it if Celts are sure they can't get DH and if Lopez agrees to sign an extension. What do you think? Nets probably only do this if they already know they will be getting DH this summer.

  • Rondo = Good
Why would the Nets trade Deron when he's the reason that Dwight wants to play for the Nets in the first place?

If the Nets will take Rondo for Williams, cut out Dallas.

I honestly think the Nets are better off with the Certain which is keep Lopez & trade for Rondo. A Avery Johnson type PG deluxe version. I think Avery Johnson would know how to suit Rondo's skills. And we should go get Deron Williams even if it cost us a 1st rounder & roll the dice with trying to get both guys to commit in the summer. I mean we are gambling with Rondo's happiness constantly offering him in trades anyhow! So the trading of him is less of a gamble as NJ trading away a young polished All-Star 7ft'er who can definitely play. Rondo & Lopez for the next 8 yrs is  championship groundwork in the 2 most important positions PG & Center.

So, we give up Rondo for scraps in order to facilitate Dwight and Deron going to Dallas. Splendid plan.

I'm not sure why the Nets would trade Brooks, Lopez and Williams to get back Rondo and Marion? Sounds like a crappy deal for them.

Okay:

This is premised on the assumption that Dwight wants to be a Net and Deron wants to be a Mav. Both of which seems to be strongly rumored.

Nets trade Deron because he wants to go to Dallas (from what I here).

Nets take Rondo (great point guard locked up for 3 more years) to help secure Dwight. Without a great point guard, Dwight may be swayed to seek going elsewhere. Seems to me that Dwight really wants to go to the Nets. Also- Dallas isn't going to be able to have cap space for Dirk, Deron and Dwight.

Nets will take Merion because he fits the style of play with RR and Dwight-- and because Dallas won't agree to the trade without unloading Merion (they will wait until he becomes a free agent).

Taking Marion from the Mavs makes them way more likely to afford Dwight. He's the biggest hitch in their plan.
