to utah: beasley, rondo
to sota: jo, bass
to boston: ridnour, al jefferson

utah get the best player in the deal, and a high scoring 3/4
sota gets rid of beas, gets Jo's expiring and a potent 4 off the bench
celtics get a solid point to run the show till bradley is ready and a scoring rebounding machine to take the load off the aging 3.

i really don't know why folks are so down on big al. he has put up quality numbers for years, has a really high PER (23+) records more blocks per game than anyone on the c's.
if we are going to trade rondo, getting back a 6'10 perennial double double machine with a short contract, plus a quality (not spectacular) PG seems a no brainer.
this offseason slide jeff to the 4 and bring in a defensive minded center with a jump shot. (or howard, now that would be a front line...)

Jefferson is legit.  His contract isn't the best as I think he's overpaid, but he's as solid as a center you're going to get.  A low post guy that can help open the outside shots for Allen and Pierce as well as short jumpers for KG?  Match made in heaven.  And that's just offensively... Its a no brainer if you ask me.

ridnour, bradley
allen, md
pierce, pietrus
kg, bass
jefferson, wilcox

we loose a lot at the point but i think this is a stronger team then we are currently.
the fact is we are weakest at the 5. jefferson gives us a huge upgrade at the hardest position to fill. low post scoring to compliment the jump shooters and finally a perfect pairing between KG's high post and jefferson's low. KG will help make al look better on d.

Down on Jefferson?

Basically, because I could drop 40 on him, and I'm 6-4 and approaching 50.

The guy can't guard a chair.

I'm a huge advocate of trading Rondo, but I have NO interest whatsoever in Big Al No D.

Not a good trade for us at all.  When are people going to learn that Jefferson does not have alot of value.  Read numerous articles on Jefferson from almost every writer in the country.  He definitely isn't worth anything near Rondo's value...

Well, at least we are a lottery team with that lineup.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Im against trading Rondo, but to be honest I'm liking the Curry swap. That is, if they include Brandon Rush and a pick swap. Curry is not Rondo talent wise but getting a better pick and backup two who is dead EFFICIENT shooting the three behind Ray, that might be a good deal for me.

I don't want Rondo to go anywhere but with all these reports about the clashes with Doc, I'm starting to think this might be a good idea.

I vote for swapping Rondo for Curry..........how soon can we do it ?

I'd trade Rondo for Curry or Gasol in a NY sec.

I feel like if Danny can't get an A- star back for Rondo like a Gasol or Curry, maybe he can swing a deal and get two B+ guys?

What about a Utah trade where Rondo goes to Utah, Harris goes to Detroit, and Stuckey comes back to Boston and you still get Jefferson from the Jazz?

Im guessing JO and maybe a Charlie V would have to go to Utah to make the slaries matchup for Al, then Danny would have to move Wilcox/Dooling to Detroit to even the money out?

Al
KG
Pierce
Ray
Stuckey
----------
Bass
Pietrus

Not a bad 7 man core, would have to find replacements for Wilcox and Dooling in the rotation or permantly plug in Johnson and Bradley.

Utah gets Rondo and Charlie V for Al and Haris.

Detroit gets Harris for Stuckey and gets rid of money owed to Charlie V.   Also get draft pick from Boston.

getting jefferson means we NEED to bring in an elite defender to  play along side him, preferably a high post offensive 4/5.
problem is there are few available howard, hibbard... ...?

I'd love to see how a KG, al front line fairs for the rest of the season, if they mesh well defensively (i'm certain they would on offense) maybe we resign KG for smaller money (one two year deal?)

if it fails Al's contract is up at the end of '13 and we enter a deeper FA pool with cash to spend.

great d don't matter if you can't get secure the defensive rebound.

Considering the Celtics are giving up less than 90 points a game, I'm going to have to disagree with you. It's quite the opposite: defensive rebounding doesn't matter if you let the ball go in the basket.
