This has to have been discussed before. Jazz desperately need PG help, and the Celtics could use big bodies.

Something like this could work, and I could see both teams doing it.

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7cwwkk7

Celtics get: Paul Millsap
Jazz get: Rondo, J.Johnson

Jazz have PF/C depth, Celtics have PG/G depth.

maybe I'm a homer, but Rondo's worth more than Millsap -- nevermind adding a good prospect with JJJ with him

  • Rondo = Good
especially near the trade deadline, let's remember to put "idea" or "rumor" in front of thread titles.  no need to give people heart attacks.

PF is our deepest position, and Millsap isn't going to make us a contender.

If we're trading Rondo to the Jazz, Harris and Big Al would fill our short-term needs -- but still probably wouldn't make us good enough this season to be worth it.

Just here to say I agree with the bolded. No comment on this trade idea.

Millsap has been a stud, so I am not sure Utah will give him up, but I do think this is an interesting trade.  Although from the C's point of view, I think they would need Harris back as well (who Utah would gladly give up), since trading for Millsap is a win now deal, and you need to fill the PG hole if you are going to win now.

So, basically, it would be Rondo/JO for Millsap/Harris.

Utah saves money and balance the roster a bit more going forward, and the C's get a monster up front and a guy in Harris who is a lesser player than Rondo, but might fit in better with this core anyways.

I think I'd rather have jefferson then milsap. If we're taking on Harris, I think they'd need to add someone like Burks or are first.

Rondo is a much better player than Millsap. No deal.

Rondo is worth so much more than Millsap, he is good but ultimately is just a upgraded version of Brandon Bass. If I was to trade to the Jazz. Rondo + Bass + 2nd rounder for  GS 1st rounder  + Harris + Favours/ Kanter. I may be over estimating Rondos trade value but an all star and all defensive should be taded for picks and young talent or not at all

Im not in favor of the trade but saying Millsap is just an upgraded version of Brandon Bass is the same thing as saying Rondo is just an upgraded version of Harris.

Its a huge difference

I think the Celtics could likely squeeze a 1st round pick out of this as well since it opens up the Jazz roster for the young big men and removes Harris.

And then you kill your payroll flexibility for next year for an underperforming PG and a C who plays no defense...  Just say no...

I agree with this,

I have stated before that a Rondo + JO for D Harris and Al + a young asset pick or burke would be a good trade.

It hurts our cap flexibility but gives us a much improved offense this year and the option of resigning everyone for one last run next year.

yeah, I agree.  not worth it, since it wouldn't make us good enough to win anything this year and Harris and Big Al aren't players to build around.

Love Millsap, but he's not worth Rondo.

Bass, Bradley and one of our 2012 picks would be my best offer for Millsap.
