That dude is messed up right now.  He had some family tragedies over the summer.  It wasn't just getting dumped by LA.  That Stephen A Smith interview right after the failed-Chris Paul trade was telling.  He's messed up in the head.

LOL at Simmons saying the Celtics should trade for him so they could be a 'dangerous' 6 seed.

He is done, I think.  Unless he goes back to LA and gets his head straightened out.

Sounds like he's just leaving the team to deal with a family matter, much like KG did a week or so back.  Don't think it's really fair to pile on Lamar about that.

Lamar clearly came into the season out of shape, as many other players did (including Pierce).  The trade probably didn't help him much, either.

Tall, athletic big men with shooting ability in their prime rarely drop off a cliff like this, though.  He was sixth man of the year last year, and for much of the season played like an All-Star.  It's hard for me to believe he doesn't still have that in him, though I think it won't be until next season -- when he's had time to sort himself out, get back into good shape, have a full training camp with a team, etc -- that he really starts to look like himself.

I don't think it would make sense to trade for Lamar this season, but I do think that it could make sense to take on Odom and Marion with our cap space over the summer if we did make some sort of win-now trade (such as trading Rondo for Gasol).
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

I want him.  He'd be a great fit for this team.  Fill the role we had picked out for David West.

Dallas is misusing him as a 3/4 off the bench with a crowded frontcourt pushing him to the perimeter.  Here he'd play the 4/5 for 30+ per game.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
dodgy thread title.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

No it's not. Just talked to my buddy. Huge mavs fan who lives in Dallas. Lots of Rumors in Dallas that odom will be bought out and he will likely sit the rest of the season.

John Ireland who is the Lakers radio play by play announcer, was on the ESPN LA affiliate and said that Lamar will not return to Dallas, and he probably won't play the rest of the season.  He might go back to LA in the off-season whether with the Lakers or Clippers.  The guy has been a mess all year.  It started before the trade.  He had some tough things he had to deal with off the court during the off-season.  It only got worse after he was dealt.  Just wait till his reality TV show wife dumps him, and then takes him to the cleaners.  He is a train-wreck.

Looks like h just leaving for a while to take care of family stuff. And here I was saying "be aggressive on picking him up."

Title is kind of misleading.

Yes, I agree. Give him David West's role. We got JO, Bass, KG, JJJ, Stiemsma and Wilcox and they're all injured (except for Stiemsma), so we should trade for Odom and play him as our center. I totally see how that would confuse Chandler and Dwight when we play against them.

HA!

Told everyone, lol.

Now the question is - do we want him here?

I trashed Odom, but I think he'd be a better option than Beasley.  I'd take the wild gamble trying to straighten Odom out rather than deal a #1 for Beasley.

I want him too, especially of the cost is not too high.  It would be great if we could get him after a buyout.
