it would have to be someone like sessions, or earl watson, some one to lend a steady hand while  bradley develops,  some one on a short contract.

another intriguing idea is andre miller. say ray and a second rounder for andre and rudy fernandez.

if we swung rondo and jo for gasol and the denver trade we would be left with:
miller (expiring), bradley
Fernandez (expiring), sp md
pierce, pietrus
kg, bass jjj
gasol, wilcox

miller is a good quarterback, maybe fenandez and gasol's preexisting relationship from the spanish team  can help him realize his potential. no doubt were a better team, question is would this team contend?

I don't know why I think this but I feel pretty strongly if Pau came here he'd instantly catch Over-31 disease.

It's a disease usually contracted in locker rooms by carriers like Sheed who walk up and infect you when they say something like "Yo. We kinda just coast here till the playoffs, then we flip a switch. The best part is you get a check".

Known treatments include letting Bradley, Moore, and JJJ play.

Ineffective treatments include Doc yelling and WEEI squawking. Looking up at banners also has no effect.

The best known cure is aiming a chemotherapy machine directly at Sheed, but the disease can linger in players affected, especially when compounded with age and other injury.

The Lakers are about to come down with this disease en mass.

I've heard there's this young guy who is like the best on the ball defender you've ever seen. He full court presses all-stars the entire game and it ticks them off and it infects the rest of the team with guts.  The best part is he's totally affordable and only 20 years old. He's also a halfway decent shooter, and can possibly pan out if he just gets more opportunities and confidence and encouragement. He was like the top recruit in the country a couple years ago but came out a little early and just tore up the d league.  And on the fastbreak just fogedaboudit. The dude posterized Durant just last week.

He's probably going to be hard to get ahold of, but I'd really like to get him

He has a 7 PER.  He'd immediately become the worst starting PG in the league.

He'd immediately start posting better stats, though.

It's hard to imagine that Doc didn't have his fill of half-a-new-team-at-midseason last year.

I don't see him making a trade for a brand-new starting PG to go with a brand-new starting center in a late-season run.  I say either they manage to bring back an 'old friend' for continuity (e.g., Delonte) or they go with what they've got: AB as first option with KD and EM as backups.

It's one thing to blow up the team when it's one of the two or three best teams in the league.

It's something else when you're muddling along in mediocrity, and you're facing the prospect of losing all of your favorite players in the offseason and starting over completely fresh.

Again, I think trading for Pau increases the chances that Ray and KG get re-signed this offseason; they're going to keep going at it with the main group, less Rondo.

And, forget Delonte.  They traded for Dooling instead of offering Delonte a contract, for what I'm sure are very good reasons that they will never disclose publicly.  Delonte's got real issues, to the point that they don't seem to think he could be counted on.

People read too much into PER.

Bradley is like KG. His effectiveness (when he is playing well) cannot be measured by statistics. If anyone hasn't read that ESPNMag article about KG yet, they need to.

We were on fire with Bradley starting when Rondo was hurt. Coincidence? Perhaps, but we have proven we can succeed with him playing heavy minutes. Whether that's because of him or in spite of him would be proven in time. I think his confidence on offense makes him even better now than he was in January.

Thinking outside the box here, but with Gasol we would be playing much more inside/out, so how about these two shooters, who would form a nice offense/defense 1-2 punch with Bradley?

Sarunas Jasikevicius
JC Navarro

Navarro is especially interesting since he has been friends with Pau since they were kids, and obviously has nice chemistry with him.

  • Rondo = Good
Sessions sounds like the best option to me.

LOL at Roy for completing dismissing the Pau/Rondo rumor and then starting this thread  :P

I think the C's lack the assets to acquire a decent PG.  Rumor is Calderon is on the market.  I don't know if dollar wise draft picks would be enough to land a Nash.  Not sure we can even get a Sessions.  It seems Doc and Danny are pretty high on AB (mainly for his D) and I would expect that he would get a fair shot before any desparation move is made to acquire another PG.

I think it's a nonsense trade, but if it gives us something to talk about, fantastic.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I want Rondo as my PG.

But if this bad deal goes, guess we'd really need one.

Give me Goran Dragic from Houston. Can be had for maybe a 2nd and exchange first. Or Luke Ridnour. Or trade the farm for IP's main man Kyle Lowry.

I guess Kirk Heinrich could probably be had cheap and could be a decent tutor for Ab, but I don't think he'd help us win now

My first choice would be Andre Miller, and if we could swing a deal for him, I would do it.Even at his age, he still can play. He would be a steadying force. The guy never panics and is tough as nails. He also plays the pick and roll real well and has a very good pullup jumper. Just can't shoot threes, but that isn't an area of weaknes for us.

My second choice, especially since we would be 'buying low" on him would be Devin Harris. This guy desperately needs a change of scenery. he is lightning quick (yes, still) and would be something that we could get for pennies on the dollar. Utah doesn't like him and he doesn't like it there. JO/Dooling and a second round pick might do it.

There was talk of the Lakers having an interest in him because of the speed dimension that he brings and they lack. Heck, even if we don't trade Rondo, I would love to have him as a backup to RR, if we can get him for cheap.

I could see a scenario where Houston sells high on Lowry while his value is at a maximum and signs Deron Williams as a free agent, but I don't think Boston could compete against other teams for that.
