Lakers send out: Bynum, Gasol
Lakers receive: Howard,Beasley,Barea

Magic send out: Howard
Magic receive: Bynum,Williams

Twolves send out: Beasley,Williams,Barea
Twolves receive: Gasol

Was posted on the realgm general board, from a Spanish site, apparently they broke out the news that Barea was signing with the Twolves a while back. Maybe they know his agent or something since he's mentioned in this trade ?

Anyway if this happened the Lakers would be favourites to win it all.

Barea/Fisher
Kobe/Barnes
Beasley/MWP
Sheed/McBob
Howard/Murphy

Beasley,Barea are not so good, but Barea is better than Fisher, Beasley starting and MWP coming off the bench doesn't hurt the Lakers either.

I'm always skeptical when I hear obscure sources break these stories, especially where there are so many moving parts involved.

I can see the motivation for all three teams here.  A lot comes down to how good you think Beasley and Williams are.  I'd be surprised if the Magic weren't able to get some cap relief in any Howard trade, though.

EDIT:  I suppose the motivation for Minnesota is less now than it was before the emergence of Pekovic, and it leaves them with a hole at SF.  Still, a Pau / Love front line would be scary.

I just don't understand how Dwight doesn't go to Jersey.

First off, Orlando HAS to clear some of their bad contracts when they get rid of Dwight.  HAS to.  Granted, it is Otis Smith.  But they are hamstrung with long term deals to Big Baby, JRich, Chris Duhon, Hedo.  Hell, I might be missing some more.

This is like the Celtics with KG in July 07.  We clearly had the most left over.  NJ is in that position

Lopez
Brooks
Humphries (good player + big expiring)
Okur (big expiring)
Unprotected Lottery Pick
Rockets 1st rounder (lotto protected this year)
Maybe another future NJ first

for

Dwight
+ as many crap contracts Orlando can get rid of providing it's within the numbers

Orlando should also wait till March 15th, dump Dwight last second as NJ would then only have a month to incorporate Dwight + Deron, and they'd have nothing else.  So that unprotected lotto they send over to Orlando will still be a very enticing pick.

I don't see how that doesn't get done.  NJ NEEDS Dwight.  NEEDS.  Because no Dwight = Deron gone.  And then New Jersey, after five years of craptacular basketball would have to start all over again + while they are moving into their new crib in Brooklyn.

Also, I'm of the philosophy that any time you can give up role players and players with potential for a proven all-star, you do it.

Frankly, it doesn't seem to me that Minny is giving up enough in this deal.

Good point about waiting. The other benefit of waiting is to see what else happens that might sweeten the pot.

And I completely agree about NJ's need.

f the Lakers are unwilling to give up Pau + Bynum for Dwight Howard, why give up Pau + Bynum for Dwight + Beasley + Barea? Beasley and Barea isn't enough added value to make that trade worthwhile given the Lakers' position.

Sounds like a load of nonsense to me. I wouldn't take it seriously.

Because Dwight is a franchise-changing big man.

Lakers also, after 2014 will have nothing on the books (besides a re-signed Dwight + other fillers.)  By then, they'll have a prime Dwight + plenty of cap space to gobble up another free agent or two.  They'll even be decent this year with, still a very good Kobe, (finally!) a PG + Beasley who could do a decent job filling in at PF.

This is a no-brainer for LA.  And a good deal for the Wolves giving up crap for Pau.

The team that gets raped, is of course, Orlando. I'm not sold on Williams, he seems like a guy without a position.  He cannot play the small forward at all (that's why Wesley Johnson, who is one of the worst players in the league is starting at SF), and as of now, he isn't big enough to be a 4.  Plus, with Beasley and Love, Minny has a glut at 4.  But that's truly beside the point.  Orlando has to, and I mean has to, clear as many of their contracts as they can when they trade Dwight.  If they seriously make a trade to swap Dwight with Bynum (and pick up a prospect in Derrick Williams) and try to stay 'competitive' and be a borderline Round 1+2 team; then...wow.  If they lose Dwight, if there's ever a team that needs to 'blow it up' it's Orlando.  Yes, even more than the Celtics.

They need to start shedding those salaries, and pick up as many draft picks as they possibly can.

But Otis is their GM.  A man who makes David Kahn look positively Auerbachian.

If you are Orlando, would you you rather Bynum + D.Williams or Pau Gasol + Bynum + ridding yourself of bad contract?

Orlando's owner has already publicly stated that he has no interest in rebuilding. That at his age he doesn't want to have to go through that again. He wants moves that gives them their best of winning now. He'd absolutely prefer the Bynum+ Pau for Dwight + bad contract. There is no way they pass up that package for this three team deal. Pau and Bynum keep them in the mix in the East.

Again, this rumoured trade makes no sense. Not happening.

I remember hearing that too.

Orlando also has that ridiculous arena they stiffed on the taxpayers.  And Florida is a state hit as hard as anyone by the recession.
Obviously, this was put here last night how NJ is going to work on 3 or 4 team deals: http://www.celticsblog.com/2012/2/24/2822178/nets-will-work-on-3-and-4-team-deals-for-howard

LOL, send them Pierce.  We'll take NJs lotto pick + Okur.

You think a team with Artest, Sheed, and Beasley is going to have the focus not to self-destruct?

All they'd be missing is Iverson.

I guess that's a fair trade, but I'm not sure it makes the Lakers favorites to win it all. I'm not sure Bynum and Gasol equal D Howard in a given year. I guess with no K Love in front of him Beas could be pretty good as a third option. Plus he'd have the revenge factor over Miami.

Beasley is sorta a dope smoking head case though. Gasol is straight up professional. idk.

A team of Fisher / Kobe / Artest / Beasley / Howard with Barea, Barnes, Sheed off the bench really doesn't scare me at all.  The Lakers' primary advantage these past few years has been their Twin Towers in the frontcourt.  With this trade, they'd get a lot smaller, and suddenly they'd only have a few plus defenders on in their rotation.  Not worried.
