Cavs receive :
Jermaine oneal + second round pick

Celtics Receive:
Semih erden + Ryan hollins

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=878427o

Why should boston do this deal?

Because semih fits in with this team so well, he was good on defense and took whatever rondo gave him offensively. and also he can rebound

If you can make the case that Ryan Hollins is better than Greg Stiemsma, it might be worth it even if JO is better than Erden (and he is), depending on how much better.

of course he is, but is this team winning right now like how they should be? i don't think so, does Jo provide anything other than charges and like 2 block shots? i don't think so.. 2 centers for 1 is better than a aging JO

JO is better than Erden and Steimsma is probably better than Hollins. Everyone involved is on a one-year contract. It looks like Boston would just be downgrading for the sake of downgrading in this trade.

i never said trade stiems and who said anything about hollins actually getting playing time,he's just involved because adding him would be the only way the trade could happen.

That's fair, but if we're gonna trade JO, I'd rather get him involved in a trade that gets us Pau Gasol.

So, basically we create a logjam of really bad Centers? Erden, Steimsma and Hollins would be a terrible trio to have on the roster when we already have Garnett, Bass, Johnson and Wilcox. There's only so many roster spots available.

can't we just waive hollins? if it was up to me wilcox would be starting @ center right now

Erden is healthy some at least.   That being said I think he is vastly over rated by some here.  He is a career third string player in my eyes.
