Just another nail in the "Rondo can be a leader" coffin, though.

And if he shows no emotion, he's uninterested and doesn't care right?

Maybe he should do the patented Paul Pierce palms-up-ThatsAFoul?face move next time.

Showing emotion so you get thrown out of a game doesn't make you a leader -- or else Rasheed Wallace would have been an amazing leader.

Paul pierce was ejected from a playoff game aginst miami...is the captain not a leader? You need to drop that phony "I like rondo seriosly" banner because you are really reaching here to disparagehim

sigh.

I'm not saying Rondo isn't a leader simply because he was ejected from a game.

The point is, this is yet another symptom of his immaturity.

Paul Pierce has shown a lot over the course of his career to demonstrate his ability to be a leader -- although to be honest, he wasn't a great leader until much later in his career.

Maybe Rondo will have that kind of maturity eventually, but right now I don't see it.

hard to blame Rondo, I was watching the game and I was REALLY p---ED OFF, like really, how is that NOT a foul...

I think the suspension is a bit rough but the refs are horrible

This may sound crazy, but I think it's two games specifically BECAUSE the ref so badly missed the call.  The message to players is that you're not allowed to show up the ref no matter how horrific the call or non-call is.

Its pouring ladies and gentlemen. At this point Celtics are better off in the lottery The Anthony Davis Jackpot.
Nope, u do kno Davis is the projected number 1 pick rite?
He's referring to the 1% chance of getting the number one pick for a team low in the lottery. (IE teams that are 8-14th in the league record wise)

That's how Chicago ended up with Derrick Rose despite not being that bad of a team the year they drafted him.
I stand by wat i said in other threads this draft is wack so idk why ya'll keep lookin forward to the lottery we wont get any franchise changing players

The underlined portion is the key, Rondo is a young player facing probably the worst adversity of his career atm. Up till now other than his rookie year he's been on a team of veterans who were "contending" this is when it gets hard.

This is also when he'll either mature or he won't. I'm not going to declare it a "nail in the coffin" of him as a leader. Rather its a symptom that he still is growing into that role.

I saw mentioned in a tweet it was probably more to do with what Rondo said that warranted 2 games

No doubt he immediately regretted doing that. Absolutely pointless move.

Interesting to see how we play tonight.

I love and hate this team. It's why I'm here daily. That being said can't he appeal and maybe get it reduced to 1 game? Otherwise maybe it's good rest and who knows maybe he will learn some self control, bad call or not. Would love see KG back tonight if he is ok. Let's go AB!

Didn't look like much other than "that was a foul, b*tch"

Wow, you guys are looking at this through green tinted glasses... you can't fire the ball at the ref PERIOD.  2 games seems right.  If he didn't get suspended that means the NBA is saying, "Go ahead, throw the ball at our refs as hard as you want"

As somebody else has pointed out, giving Rondo the same penalty for tossing the ball too hard at a ref that Kevin Love got for stomping on a player on the ground is kind of ridiculous.  One game?  Sure.  Two games?  For that?

That's a fair way to look at things, but it's worth pointing out that plenty of young players are capable leaders even early in their careers (Rose, for example).

The fact that Rondo might still need a while to grow into a leadership role is just another reason to doubt the wisdom of making him "the man" going into a rebuilding effort.

It's well established that one of the worst things you can have on a rebuilding team is a main guy with a bad attitude -- that tends to set a bad precedent for every new young player that comes in.

If there is any ridiculousness, it is that Kevin Love only got two games.  Based on past history, it seems like a one-game suspension is normal for excessive verbal abuse of an official and a one-game suspension is normal for throwing a ball at or making contact with a ref, so it could be seen as perfectly in line with past rulings if Rondo was given one game for each for a total of two games.

Of course, Rondo probably should have just chucked it at the guy's head to make a point.

Sounds like an early start to the All-Star break to me. Maybe he has somewhere else to be who knows. Hopefully he gets his head back on straight when he gets back.
