Allen Iverson receives contract offer from indoor soccer league ???

http://www.latimes.com/sports/sportsnow/la-sp-sn-allen-iverson-indoor-soccer-20120220,0,329975.story

So good at basketball he's having people offer to pay him to dribble a ball with his feet. And this is the guy you want playing for the Celtics?

Sorry Iverson fans. It's exactly what it looks like.

So glad PP didn't get his way when he wanted AI to be a Celt

Iverson is trying to return to the NBA, that's what he wants.

Meanwhile he has to play in Venezuela or elsewhere, at least not out of shape, even the D-League.

I've also read about soccer, not if AI will choose this, your wish is to return to the NBA.

Here is a stat for everyone, since the only defense anyone can ever make for Iverson is stats.

Here is a team stat and not an individual stat.

A team with Allen Iverson on it has won one (1) playoff series in the last decade. 1.

If he joined the Celtics, that stat would not change.  He is not a difference maker.

I am sure he wants to play.

So did Tiki Barber last year in the NFL.

Being old, out of the game a few years and a locker room issue just make for a bad combination for those looking for a job.

Nothing to say, AI still can play at high level in the league.

Conspiracy against Allen Iverson, but he will be a hall of fame and a legend.

Above is a great Iverson video if someone can link it for me.

Let's talk team sports, not individual.  The question isn't "Can Iverson still play?" (answer is probably not).  The question is "Can Iverson help the Celtics?" (the answer is definitely not).

If you can explain how he helps us rebound, please do so.  Individual and all-time scoring stats on meaningless on a team that already has Pierce, Allen, and Garnett.

Okay so I kinda understand the "Bring Back Big Al Jefferson" threads......Kinda.

I almost understood the "Bring Back Antoine Walker" threads....Almost.

I sorta almost kinda understood the "Bring Back Tony Allen" threads.....Sorta almost kinda.

I will NEVER in all the years I have left on this Earth EVER understand why Celtic fans would want to bring Allen Iverson back to the NBA never mind the Boston Celtics........NEVER EVER!!!!!!

Some of us have lost hope. They think Iverson is the answer (no pun).

Much respect for what Iverson has done, but he ain't helping us. I'd rather bring back Gerald Green.
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

Don't we have enough issues to deal with ?  Why add a pair of washed up head cases to the situation.

I think DA is going to let the season ride unless some miracle star appears. , probally hopes we don't make the playoffs and start the rebuild after the season.

I get use to the look of this team , I think we got them for the rest of the season

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I'd take a flyer on Arenas in place of Moore for this season.
Moore can play next year onwards and surely Arenas will be a better pick up.

We took on Marbury, we've had Delonte West. Arenas has a terrible image but he isn't a complete scumbag, he's had more time to get over that injury as well.
Didn't he donate 10 million dollars to the Washington Schools district and help them pay maintenance and repairs when they were running low on funds?
He's still only 30, and can be had for cheap. It just makes me shiver thinking about Bradley, Dooling and Moore out there as our guard combo.
If we did luck out and make the 6th seed, I feel like having Arenas is a better option than Moore or Pavlovic. (don't have a problem with either, but Arenas was the Magic's 6th man last year, ahead of Bass.)
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I don't mind bringing him in for a workout, especially if we bring in other guys too, and tell him "There's about a 0.1% chance we sign you, but if you blow us away...you never know"

I don't want to give a guy the impression we'll sign him when we won't. You gotta give him a loooonnnngggg interview too, without his agent, because a guy can be coached to give the right answers

It's worth noting here that even if AI were a distinct improvement over Dooling in terms of basketball ability, his effectiveness would be diminished by the fact that he'd be the 4th option on the team offensively. His career usage rate was 31.83%. Can you imagine him putting that sort of usage rate up with Boston and not have people cry out in anger?

I have a bridge for sell if you want to buy it.

Get real if he could play some team would give him a call.   His game was built on his crossover and speed.   He is over 35 and has lost a lot of that.   Short guys usually do not play at a high level in their late 30's.   He did not even play at the highest level of ball in Turkey but their B level.

I heard this:

Allen Iverson could be headed toward another basketball comeback.

Iverson briefly played for the Pistons and in Turkey in the last few years, and he is now in exploratory talks with Puerto Rico’s professional basketball league, Yahoo! Sports reports, citing sources.

Iverson’s business manager Gary Moore has spoken with Puerto Rico officials. The teams are prepared to enter a bidding process to lure Iverson.

The league’s 30-game season starts in March. It pays stars about $20,000 a month and is selling Iverson on the idea of a possible return to the NBA, according to Yahoo! Sports.

Other players hoping to return to the NBA have landed in the league in recent years. Rashad McCants and Ike Diogu recently signed on with Caciques de Humacao for the 2012 season.

NBA officials tell Yahoo! Sports that Iverson has had his people reach out to teams. His feelers have not been met with any interest. Iverson has been out of the NBA since 2010 and made a brief appearances in Turkey in 2010-11.
