Orlando trades: Dwight, JJ Redick
Orlando gets:  Bynum, CJ Watson

Chicago trades:  Boozer, Watson, Ronnie Brewer
Chicago gets:  Pau Gasol, Redick

Lakers trade:  Bynum, Pau
Lakers get:  Dwight, Boozer, Brewer

Draft picks could be thrown in as well.  Chicago would need a new backup PG, but could probably get one after buy-outs.

Why does Chicago get involved?  I think that Pau is a significant playoff upgrade over Boozer.

Why do the other teams want to involve Chicago?  Orlando seems to want more than just a Bynum-Howard swap.  So here, they get CJ Watson and unload some $ in Redick.  Maybe Orlando would demand a draft pick back from a team too.  Boozer's mid-range jumpshot would complement Dwight's game nicely.

Thoughts?

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Orlando wants Chicago's pick from Charlotte and the Lakers first rounder too.

I like the idea though, very creative.
The Bulls would get away with highway robbery if they got Gasol and Reddick for Boozer +those fillers.

Most likely team to avoid Chicago is the Lakers, they probably don't wanna touch Boozer, they could just swap Bynum for Howard and probably clear Artest in the process. Although Boozer would have less pressure on him offensively if Howard were sharing the paint with him.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I don't think LA trades Pau for Boozer and Brewer and I don't think Chicago adds enough to Orlando's end to make it necessary for LA to include Chicago in the deal.

So both of you think LA would be reluctant to do that deal, which is understandable.  The downgrade from Pau to Boozer is somewhat significant.  What if LA could also upgrade their PG to Jameer Nelson?

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7sbgy7m

LA gets:  Jameer Nelson, Boozer, Dwight
LA trades:  Steve Blake, Pau, Bynum

Chicago gets:  Blake, Redick, Pau
Chicago trades:  CJ Watson, Ronnie Brewer, Boozer, CHA first round pick

Orlando gets:  CJ Watson, Ronnie Brewer, Bynum, CHA first round pick
Orlando trades:  Jameer, Redick, Dwight

I think that LA would ideally prefer to do as simple of a trade as possible revolving around a Bynum-Dwight swap.  Orlando has been hesitant to pull the trigger on that kind of deal yet though.  So this trade predicates on the idea that Orlando won't simply swap Dwight for Bynum.  This deal brings Orlando back a nice draft pick, a decent player in Watson, and saves them some money by unloading Jameer and Redick
