Here me out here, please.  I have long been sort of infatuate with Biedrins.  Yes, he is a head care right now and suffering from very low confidence, but he did average almost a double double for three straight years.  He can board and run the floor, esp. with a PG like Rondo.  Yes, he is due $9 million per for the next two years after this year.  But, if we can help him get his confidence back, he would be more than worth it and would immediately address our rebounding deficit.  (Not cure it, but help address it)

For us taking his salary off their hands, they would have to give us a future #1 pick for giving them immediate cap relief at the end of this year.

  • Rondo = Good
No way would they give us a pick for that.  But it's somewhat plausible just as a straight up trade JO + Dooling for Biedrins.

Biedrins is:
- a tremendous offensive liability
- a mediocre defender
- a decent but very far from great rebounder
- considering the above, extremely overpaid

I still can't understand how GSW didn't amnesty him.

Boston should only consider this if the pick is unprotected and they don't have a better alternative to use the cap room.

i think we would only get the pick if it's in the top 7. Utah i think own GS top 7 protected pick

Golden State Warriors center Andris Biedrins is on pace to set the record for worst free throw percentage in a single season, a record set by Boston Celtics center Garfield Smith in the 1971-72 season.

Golden State Warriors center Andris Biedrins' free throw shot is "broken."

Call a shot doctor, not coach Don Nelson, who is frustrated with Biedrins' efforts at the foul line.

Biedrins was 4-for-25 (16%) from the line entering Tuesday, on target to set the record for worst free throw percentage in an NBA season (minimum 20 attempts). Boston Celtics center Garfield Smith set the record in 1971-72 (6-for-31, 19.4%).

Things have gotten so bad, Nelson has tried to persuade Biedrins, 23, to shoot his free throws underhanded in the manner of Warriors great Rick Barry. Nelson also thinks Biedrins is tentative on the floor because he doesn't want to get fouled.

$9 million is too much fringe player who has a major flaw in his game. Unless Warriors add Curry to the package I can't see Celtics trading just for Biedrins

Biedrins is a major upgrade over JO though. At least he can stay on the floor with some consistency. I like this.

Ray Allen, Jermaine, and Dooling for Biedrens and Monta Ellis? I don't know, I just feel that changes like this one are blowing in the wind. I have seen the statistical evidence and it points to continued Celtics struggles in the near future. Don't ask me about long term because this is not a long term league unless your team is OKC or Miami.

JO and Dooling are expiring contracts.  Biedrins has 3 years left at 9-10 million a year.

As I pointed out in another thread, Golden State previously turned down a trade of Biedrins to Houston for Hashem Thabeet and Jordan Hill and they chose to keep Biedrins and amnesty Charlie Bell instead, while withdrawing their qualifying offer from Reggie Williams and waiving Jeremy Lin, to clear cap space to sign DeAndre Jordan to an offer sheet that was matched.

If you offered Jermaine O'Neal, Kenyon Dooling, and a #1 for Biedrins, Golden State might ask for more.

Biedrins = troy murphy 2.0 = the quickest rout to mediocrity, to good for the lottery, no good enough to content = the most boring NBA years..

I don't get this comparison at all. Murphy was a prorated minimum contract. We lost nothing picking up Murphy and we probably didn't gain anything either.

Personally, I don't think mediocrity is boring. How many of us felt that way 10 years ago? Are people just saying that because we are jaded by our recent success since the KG trade? It doesn't seem like people are bored in the forum -- more like frustrated. I would probably feel much better about our performance if it wasn't happening during the depressing decline of 3 HOF players.

Same type of contract like troy had when he was still playing for indiana.

personally I've been following the Celtics since the beginning of the nineties & yes the first 15 years i followed were boring, from Radja to Blount, Williams, Anderson to Walker. I only want superstars or players that might have the potential to become stars.

I want the best, i hate middle of the pack & yes if needed, i prefer tanking above first round playoff exits of it means that we can content again a couple of years faster.
