I hate agree because he was for a very long time my favorite Celtic.  I have two jersey's hanging in my den, Paul Pierce and Larry Bird.

I just see what he is now and it is a shell of the player he was even two years ago.  He can still have Paul Pierce vintage games but they are happening less and less often while his off games are worse then ever.

He is hanging out at the 3pt line more and more when we need him taking it to the hole.

He trotting up the court and hanging again at the 3pt line when we get in transition.  With guys like Wilcox and JJJ running and going to the hole Rondo is finding better options.

His jumper many night is flat due to tired and old legs.

His defense is okay but no where near the level it was from 2007 to 2010.  younger better athletes are finding it a whole lot easier to best Paul Pierce then they have in the past.

Maybe he isn't the problem.  Maybe we are asking him to do too much at this stage of his career.

Players never get better when they get older.  In fact is usually a rapid slippery slope when they hit their decline.  All three are in the decline.

[dang] a lot of Pierce hate in this thread it was all good 2 weeks ago I personally think he's in a slump tht he'll bust out of soon not on a "Sharp decline tht he cant bounce back from" or "A shell of his former self" dude was named an all star for a reason this year lol

He is a shell of his former self.

When in the past has Paul Pierce ever had a full weeks worth of poor games.  When in the past has Paul Pierce disappeared for games on end?   When in the past has Paul Pierce relegated himself to being a jump shooter and stopped taking the ball to the hole?

It's not a reflection of his career it is who he is right now at this stage of his career.  He is still a very good player who can have great games but he isn't a great player anymore.

I don't know that he is the problem as was stated in this thread but he is part of it and it is out of his control.  Our problem is we are still expecting Paul Pierce and Ray Allen to be our primary scorers and finishers but they aren't the same players as they were a few years ago.  Also we are asking Paul Pierce to guard opposing teams best wing players night in and night out and he cannot handle that consistently any longer.

It is nothing against him personally.  Everybody gets old.
