Just posting this because I saw it and it's a Celtic's article.

Seems like nothing but speculation by a website that seems to continue to lose credibility.

Can't see why we would do this deal.

Thoughts?

  • Rondo = Good
Harris + Millsap for Rondo + Ray?

Doesn't make too much sense for either side.  We already have KG and Bass playing at PF.  If we're asking for any bigs from the Jazz, it'd be Kanter or Big Al.

I don't think the Jazz would be willing to meet our asking price for Rondo or Rondo + Ray.

"The Jazz have an all-star point guard"...  in 2009.  Let's pretend the last couple seasons didn't happen.

Nice work, Hoopsworld.  And yes, their site is garbage.

Millsap's a guy who intrigues me.  Once we lose out on Dwight this summer, I got no problem dealing Rondo for him.  Millsap's quietly one of the better players in the game, and is only signed for 7M next year.  Let KG walk, and trade Rondo for Millsap.  Even free up 3M more in cap room too.

All Rondo trades can wait till the off-season, however.

I actually don't mind that trade though would like at least one more piece.  Millsap is just 27 with a very reasonable contract and while he is a bit undersized, would greatly help with the teams lack of interior scoring, rebounding, and toughness.  Harris has obviously fallen off a bit, but he did miss almost all of last year with an injury so it may be related to that (of course he isn't exactly durable which is a problem).

I'd probably do this

Rondo, Allen

for

Millsap, Harris, Bell (depends on if C's feel they need a SG to replace Allen), 1st (top ten protected and the better of its two unless 1 in top ten 1 is not OR if both in top ten then the worse of the two)

It does affect cap space next summer, but Millsap seems to me to be an effective use of the cap space and I think the C's would still probably have enough for a max or near max contract.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
we are essentially trading Rondo for Millsap.
I don't do it.
Harris sucks.
Rondo is a guy we can possibly rebuild around, Millsap is not.
Not knocking Millsap but he's an undersized PF and we are left with him, pierce and Avery Bradley.
Sounds like years of mediocrity.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

and Rondo, Pierce, and Bradley doesn't sound like years of mediocrity.  Neither team is going to win a title without a lot more help, the question is really who is a better piece to start with.

As it relates to HoopsWorld and their so called "credibility", to borrow a few lines from an old Gregg Allman blues song:

"Can't miss what you ain't got,
Can't lose what you never had."

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I thought the Gasol & Rondo "rumor" was crap that was lucky to catch on so they never had credibility with me.

Right, the equivalent talents would be Rondo for Millsap and Harris for Ray.  You're looking at it wrong if your thought is the deal is Rondo for Harris.  I would have to say the deal would favor the C's given that Ray's time as an NBA starter is really dwindling.
