Agree with everything you have posted.
I think the league needs to address the problem moving forward. Thibs has just exposed a rule, so give him credit for that. I dont think the Bulls or Thibs should be fined in this instance.
Also, I dont necessarily agree with suspending or fining a particular individual, but feel it more appropriate to fine the organization.
NBA, put a rule in place, along with a penalty for those caught. Nip this type of manipulation in the bud before it becomes bigger.
But how big of a fine for an organization to deter this happening? It's hard to see being completely eradicated unless they remove the blood time out rule altogether.
example scenario:
If that was the Eastern Conference Finals, 7 game series, tied at 3 games all. Bulls are down two points with no timeouts.
Boozer cuts himself, they get the time out and run a complex play to get Kyle Korver a good look at the three point shot.
Kyle drains it and Bulls go to the Finals.
Korver gets nothing, Bulls get huge fine.
If you owned the Bulls would you pay 100K for that timeout? 1 million?
Korver missing 2 games?
I would throw the money at the NBA and laugh.
