can't believe all the trade rondo threads

anyway there is no doubt that mr ainge is the most stubborn headed gm in the league, and least likely to care about fan sentiment.

understand ppl when u trade for/or away someone your trading future production not past production.

before u let me u can't get anything of value for paul or allen, i beg to differ, the nba is wide open this year and many team may wish to give up youth + picks to put them over the top.

I hate the idea of trading anybody, but youre dead on.

Garnett is in a much deeper slump than Rondo is. He's just a jump shooter. The one thing he does good the most, rebounding, is not there anymore. He clearly lost.

Rondo is in a slump. WIll he get back to form, we don't know. Is his skills declining, definitely not.

Just a hunch, but I think Wyc and the ownership get back on the bandwagon every time they win a few games (yes, even though that's been mostly at home against bad teams).

These bad losses before the schedule gets tougher may lead them to give Danny free rein again, but the little boomlet in Danny's assets may have passed.

You make trades to improve your team, period.  25 year olds aren't off-limits by any means.

If moving Rondo makes the team better in Danny's estimation, he'll do it.  If it won't, he won't.  The only player you can't necessarily say that about is Paul Pierce, where there may be outside considerations (loyalty, marketing, etc.)

Once again, Roy gets it.

In my opinion though, if you trade Rondo for any other all star point guard, you're throwing in other assets and probably losing out. If you're going for it, go for a wing or a big. I don't get why everybody is so pumped for Rondo + other stuff for D-Will or Chris Paul. I just don't get it.

Why would you want a GM that listened to the fans? If that was the case then Rondo would have been traded ten times this season, Garnett would be traded for a worse contract, Ray Allen would be traded and Pierce would be amnestied. Oh and we would have cut Bradley before the season began too.

You trade to make your team better, period.  In the NBA, unless a team has an elite wing, teams build from the inside out.  C's need a post scorer this year and in future years more than they need a pass first point guard, particularly as the team has fewer options to pass to.

If Rondo can bring you in a big that can score in the paint and rebound then he goes.  And that goes for any other player on the C's, but I don't see anyone else having that type of value.

No one should be off limits with the exception of maybe Pierce....maybe.

I only move Rondo if it make us better in the future but not for a band aide for this season like many of the trades suggested around here by people who wont let go of the "old three".  The window is closed and I don't see anyone out there who can reopen it this season.  I've been saying the window is closed since the beginning of this season and have gotten blasted for suggesting it.  That's just the way I see it and have felt that way really since the end of last season.

I'd even consider moving Pierce but only for a return you just cannot refuse.

Avoid any trade that you believe will make you a title contender this season because that trade isn't out there with what we have to offer and will only make the rebuild/reload that much tougher going forward IMO.  We're not one player away.

Trading Joe Johnson for Rodney Rogers made this team better for a few months. But how did it turn out long term? I agree, you don't trade Rondo for one more run with the Big Three.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

I just want to get us as close to a championship this year.

Sorry to tell people but.this year is.going to be our be best chance of winning.a championsihip for a while.

I prefer the band aid trades to the stupid trades to get a young athletic crappy  player or draft picks that w won't do anything

I think trading the old guys would help the rebuild.   You develop the young guys we have providing experience.  Why wait as it is obvius that we are pretenders and not contenders anymore?  The sooner we start the better.   I watch the C's good or bad so I would watch them anyways.

We want assets as Roy says and that means young guys and picks.  But the big question is would you build around Rondo?  If you would you keep him if not you ship him.

Who knows how Danny feels?

Yeah, in determining what makes the team better, Danny has to weigh long- and short-term considerations.  However, Rondo isn't, and won't be, untouchable by any means.

fans are too stuck in the big-3 era....allstar PG who average 14/10/5 dont grow on trees...hes not a perfect player by all means..

but surround him with young guys who can run the break with him and he will be successful. hes a piece, a building block. not a franchise player though. and he's not being paid like one!! danny tried to get an upgrade (CP3) it didnt happen. so you stick with what you've got...Rondo/doc/pierce is alot more appealing to players than the old-guys/doc and no young future.

I would much rather trade Ray allen or KG for picks so we can try and get a lotto pick next year to entice other FA's

  • You say when......
Well, tell me / us...WHO do you think you are JUST GOING TO GET..we already know NO one wants to come to the celtics...cp3...ya..he told you no....and who do you think is going to fix this by themselves....a fast, shooting pg..will STILL run by themselves....even on an average team....1 guy runs for the layup, you have q guy follow..for the....follow...rebound......you SHOULD be faulting the COACH here.......on the one hand, some say HE got us a championship....but he was never on the court..so it must have been his mastery of plays and rotations..but NOW that we need his mastery of this game..where is it....? We all know al the pieces are there, we have seen great things out of this team....we do have speed, height, rebounders, experience, youth, athelites..depth.....at pg..rondo, bradley dooling......blaming rondo is like blaming the ball..and the ball don't lie...and neither do I...!

No one is untouchable I think.
