With Billups done, hopefully the Clippers will show more interest in trading fro Paul Pierce.

Any chance they part with DeAndre Jordan??
What the **** are you talking about?

So you want to hold on to Paul Pierce for three more years as he becomes old and brittle as the Celtics slip even FURTHER into oblivion because you can't bear to see him in another uniform? You probably don't even know who DeAndre Jordan is. You need to remove your green-tinted glasses and realize that the C's would be lucky to get out of the first round this year and it's going to get worse from here on out.  No stars want to play here unless we already have a nucleus in place. An aging Pierce who is locked up to a max-deal for the next few years isn't a good way to start.  I  know it is unbearable for fans like you to even think about something like this, but it's The Truth (see what i did there?)

I lived through the Celtics demise in the early 90s when Red refused to trade Parish, McHale, and Bird and it wasn't pretty.  Hopefully Danny is smarter than you and realizes that we have to take a small step back (trading PP) to take a great leap forward (attracting multiple star players).

If Billups did tear his Achilles, he is not just done for the season, his career is in jeopardy.

I blew my Achilles at a 24 year old and it took over a year to get healthy and able to play basketball at 80% of what I was prior to the injury.

Chauncy is much older and I would not be surprised if he retires.

Achilles Tears are one of the worst injuries for tall men, you cannot put any weight on the leg for 6 months and then you have to rehab with an atrophied leg that takes up to another 6 months.  I tell ya, its a horrible injury, I dont wish it on anyone.

I think the confusion is that you think LA would be willing to give him for Pierce. DJ is a young, athletic 7 footer with a ton of upside. Those guys don't fall out of the sky - why would they give him up for a 34 yr old swingman? Paul isn't washed up but if the Clippers were dumb enough to move him ,they could get MUCH better offers. My guess is, they matched the 4 yr contract he got from GS and he's clearly in their plans, their not looking to move him.

A much more realistic plan is that they try to sign JR Smith and he becomes their starting 2 guard.

great news for us.
Our chances of going 4-5 spots higher in the draft just increased dramatically.

My first thought as well.  The downgrade from Billups to Foye is significant.  The more Foye and Gomes play, the better that pick starts to look.

On the other hand, if they get J.R. Smith, they might not miss a beat.
It is not nearly as significant as you are making it out to be.  This isn't the Chauncey of 4 years ago.  He has lost a lot.  Foye might actually be a better fit because he is bigger and more able to actually guard opposing SG's.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I have said many times before and will say it again.  I also lived those times.  The Celtics problems were not caused because the stars  were not traded...the problems were caused because Bias and Lewis died, and with them the Celtics future.  If those guys had lived, they would have fit seamlessly into the Celtics family, tutored by some of the best.

I now see some of the seeds of the Celtics future on the bench.  They have skills, and, I hope,  will continue to  be mentored by the best.
Yesterday is history.

Today is a gift...

I have no doubt LAC would love to have Pierce, but you are correct they aren't giving up their starting center.  You might be able to get Butler and Bledso (and filler for dollars), but I can't see much better than that.

Any chance the Clippers try to get Gilbert Arenas?

That would be interesting. Probably work out terribly, but interesting all the same ;)

Bah, hope this injury won't haunt him afterwards. How long has the guy got left anyway?

I wouldn't trade Pierce of DeAndre Jordan. Very limited player, whose production I don't think will be sustainable particularly at the price of 10 million+ a year in a rebuilding effort. If the idea is to help bring in other free-agents because we have a "young talented core" you're fooling yourself. DeAndre is not bringing anyone here, Pierce still be around and playing well, as we're seeing, has more pull in enticing players to play for Boston.

At his age , I suspect this should be the end of his NBA time as a player.  Hopefully he'll wind up on somebodies bench as an assistant coach .
