Don't like have Rondo and Andy V on the floor at the same time.  Basically you have 2 guys who can't hit a jumper.   Because of Rondo's shaky J we need A center that can knock down shots.

Don't know who though..

Funny, when Perk was here, that wasn't a concern for some reason.

Bogut?  [too fragile and currently injured, but likely available for a pick, JO, Bass, and Dooling]

Of course it was.

If it wasn't a concern, then Perk would have been in the crunch time lineup more often.

Expendable?

Dooling, Bass, Quisy, Sasha

This is like an SAT question. What player does not fit in this group?

My vote is actually Sasha.

He's the only one without a competent backup in place (at SF).

Rondo/Dooling/Bradley/Moore (Dooling expendable with emergence of rooks)

Ray/Pietrus/Quisy (Quisy 3rd string, expendable)

Pierce/Pavlovic  (Pietrus, perhaps, but needed at SG)

KG/Bass/Wilcox/JJJ (Bass expendable with Wilcox to backup and JJJ on 3rd string)

JO/Steimsma (huge problem.  Biggest hole in roster)

can someone explain to me how bass is expendable?? the guy has been CLUTCH...and definitely in the picture for 6th man of the year.

I think Johnson is going to be a good player and has a higher ceiling than bass...but once we get to the playoffs Id trust Bass>JJJ

depth in a season like this is good

OP thinks Bass is expendable because he takes too many jump shots and apparently doesn't like PFs who don't do the bulk of their scoring in the post.  I happen to disagree.

Anyone still think putting Bass on the table for a center is a horrible idea?

I think the two most likely players to be moved if they can get an impact center would be JO and/or Wilcox, because of their contracts.

I think Bass would be very difficult to give up, because of the scoring and energy he gives this team off the bench.  I also think Dooling would be a guy they would prefer to keep, because his combination of shooting, and ability to defend the 1 or 2 would be huge in playoffs.

Some good points, especially Dooling in the playoffs, but I think if we want size, giving up Wilcox and JO probably isn't the way to go.  Bass makes a bit more money than Wilcox, so he'd match up salaries better.  And I think there's some level of committment to JO to keep him around for a title run.  He's just better off the bench than starting.

And what we're seeing is Bass' ceiling:  an undersized reserve PF that can't play any other position.

I'd like to keep Bass, but I'd also like to keep Sasha around. He's a decent player with experience who seems to be able to come in when he hasn't played in a while and make some plays on both ends of the court.

This question is asked funny. I don't think Bass is expendable, but given that we have Wilcox and that Bass might be gone after this year and is playing so well, he's the one who will bring back more value in a trade. That is completely different than being expendable though, in my opinion.

Well, I don't think you would give up both of them (unless you were getting a REALLY good player, in which case its worth it), but I think a package would be based around one of the two of them, as they are are two most movable contracts, and you would just be replacing whichever you move, with the new guy you are getting back.

As for Bass, I agree that we are seeing his ceiling, but I think what he is giving this team right now is absolutely invaluable.  Now, if they are getting back a guy like Gasol, fine, but that's not happening.  Chances are, you are getting back another role player in return, and given this teams struggles to score, I think giving up Bass' skillset would be very tough to replace this season.
