The expendable players are Daniels, Dooling, and Stiesma... they currently are pretty much out of the rotation and only serve us for insurance purposes. I expect any of them to be cut as buyout candidates come forward.

Not fair for Dooling since hes been injured. Bench should still be:

Dooling/Bradley
Bradley/moore
Pietrus
Bass
Wilcox

Quis and Pavlovic will only be useful if ray or pierce sit so as not to over play pietrus/moore/bradley. Same goes for KG/JO/Bass with Steamer.

As mentioned it depends on the buyout candidates. The players mentioned are the 3 I expect to be cut first depending on who becomes available. I think our team is quite content with our young guys both for now and future to just let go of them, only if the right deal presents itself.

Gerald Henderson started on a title team, then was traded for a future draft pick.

Yet Brandon Bass, a backup to an allstar starter, with two backups farther behind him (Wilcox and JJJ), isn't expendable?

When were the bobkittens a title team?
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
What does Bass give that can't be replaced by Wilcox backing up KG?

Have you watched any Celtics games this year?
Is this a joke?

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

When I saw Bass' name I new this thread had to be a joke! You are kidding, right? You would keep Wilcox (who I like) over Bass? It's obvious you aren't watching games because Bass has been the most consistent and has started playing really good D! I quit with you guys... it's getting crazy now!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Expendables? So basically, Dooling is Arnold, Pavlobricks is Willis, Marquis is Rourke, and Bass is Jason Statham.. You get my drift?

Ryan Anderson would be great. Great rebounder and shooter.
If the Magic loose Howard we may have a chance.

All can be traded if it improves the Celtics.

It was a reference to the 1984 title team.

No jokes.  Wilcox is the better big man, though he took a few weeks to come around into shape, etc.

Superior rebounder, shot blocker, and better hands and touch around the basket for a solid offensive game, and can fill the lane on the break.

Bass has a nice shooting touch to 17ft, and can use his muscle to bang around inside a bit, but like many PF's we've tried out, being short is just a huge disadvantage to a journeyman-level talent in the paint.

And since we need help in the paint, I'd be trying hard to package Dooling and Bass for a MLE-level center.

That being an nod to those who posted that Pavlovic and Quisy are minimum-contract insurance policies at the wing, and should be kept if at all possible.

So we want to trade players that we don't need (and have little to no value) for a player we can use (and has value).  Uh, okay.

People crack be up.  Generally, we can't turn our garbage into a treasure.  And while I understand folks wouldn't want to trade Bass, at least it makes sense in a real world kind of way.  At least he has some value.  That's generally what you have to do if you want to get value in return.

Teams place value on different things, that's why trades occur.

And it depends on the rest of the roster, too.

Seeing duplication at the guard and PF spots (due to the emergence of the rooks and Wilcox) doesn't mean the players there stink, just that the team performance can be improved with a roster adjustment.
