I bet if OTART SRIEN was allowed to play he wouldn't have taken as long as Ottawa Celtic.

"Drunk with power, knowing the owners under him would feel his wrath if they went against him, DICTATOR Proceed took one more long sip out of his chalice of greed and power, and refused the one respectable candidate's right of passage - therefore putting the integrity of the pick 2 draft forever in jeopardy."

Suggestion for next year...in the contract everyone has to supply a cell phone number to the commish so if they go absent during this stage it doesn't hold up the team picks for a day or four. ;D
That's not a bad idea.

Here's a few others.
1. Draft deadline for picking teams just like the ones used for picking players.  Pick by then or forfeit your turn until the end.
2. Allow a 6-8 hour max from pick to pick (allowing for people who may be working to sneak onto the internet or to get home from work) before moving on to the next person.  Similar to what we do for players where if you miss your slot, the next person gets to select.  Always found that a pretty good incentive for being on time.
3. Have the commish assign a team to that person if no pick made within the allotted timeframe.  Getting stuck with Charlotte can be a nasty persuader to be timely with a pick.

Just some thoughts for next time.

The only problem with having your turn skipped is that this can actually be a strategy - if you're completely indifferent between a couple teams, you'd rather skip a few turns and end up with the same quality of team and a better pick in each round.
2023 Historical Draft: Toronto Raptors

Point Guard: Anfernee Hardaway, Fat Lever, Terrell Brandon
Shooting Guard: Paul Westphal, Paul Pressey
Small Forward: Marques Johnson, Danny Granger
Power Forward: Jermaine O'Neal, Bobby Jones, Kiki Vandeweghe
Center: Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka

Didn't read the "until the end" part - I guess that makes more sense, although I could still see a strategy for waiting it out.

Why would your other drafting picks improve?

When a team misses a pick, their other picks stay the same.

Oh, alright - I was thinking in terms of the rest of the draft being based on the first round's order but you're right, that makes way more sense.

They have doctors in Canada?!?

I'd heard the hippocratic oath didn't translate well to French, (though it's a goldmine for dentistry up there).

But seriously, we could learn a few things from the Canadian Health System, (and you know you're my boy, Rebus). ;)

Isn't there a default team for Canada?
