With McGee being POTP (part of the problem) down in DC I wonder if they might consider moving him? He's a RFA this offseason so either they commit years & dollars or lose him as some team is sure to over pay him (keep in mind another athletic center with worse numbers just got 40M).

Could Boston pry him off for a #1 pick & Keyon Dooling? The veteran guard has a matching salary, but he might be a helpful presence in the tutelage of John Wall. DC gets a #1 in a deep draft for a player they could lose unless they are willing to pay him and they didn't extend him at the deadline.. Just a thought. I'd give up a #1 to shore the 5 spot and give our big 3 one more shot at a title.

Our picks arent going to be high enough to tempt anyone into a deal like that.

You'd need way more to get the deal done.

how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck was chris bosh?

Let's pretend I didn't suggest this trade idea...

what trade  ;)

DA stay far away from Javale. I beg of you. Celtics are known for their high BBIQ; Javale will put serious dent on it.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Why not though. Late 1st round and Dooling for an athletic Center who can run fast breaks. Yes his BBIQ is suspect but with a little coaching and pep talk on what role he's going to play in (mainly a shot blocker, defender, rebounder but not a post option because, cmon, McGee playing post...) he could be an effective (not a star) starter for us.

And what do we lose from that? Keyon and a late pick. Seriously worth a shot.

The only thing that bothers me though is he's a restricted FA next year. Some teams mught overpay for this kid. So it might be a good idea to ask the Wizards to extend his contract first to a good deal (around 2-3 years at 5-7 million dollars a year).
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
They'll get offered much better deals than that.
If Dallas misses out on Howard they'll be going after McGee as a Chandler replacement. Many teams will have him on their radar.
Wizards might not match offers, but they'll certainly get better offers than a late first round pick + Dooling.
They wouldn't even pick up the phone for that.

They might listen to something like Bass+first round pick but even then they'll probably be offered better.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Generally I feel it's a good plan to avoid trading for the dumbest individual in the league at a given time. Currently, McGee is that guy. So no thanks. Meanwhile, selfishly I very much want him to stay on someone else's team, so I can continue to enjoy watching him make a fool of himself on and off the court on a weekly basis. We love you, Jevale -- keep it up!

If he were a Celtic, Tommy would have given him two Tommy Points on that play

1) For trying a long corner hook shot
2) For hustling back  on defense.
