After being at the garden last night I had a minor change in heart. It stead on a true blow up what if we do this...

Boston out

Rondo (this hurts)
O' Neil
2012 1st

Phoenix out
Nash
Gortat

This trade hindges on if the Suns want to rebuld with Gortat or Rondo, I would think they would prefer rondo to come in and fill nash's shoes.

For the celtics they would have to get Ray,KG, and Nash to all agree to sign 1 year deals this off season. We could then over pay Bass,Pietrus, and J green on 1 year deals using there bird rights. For the second half of this season and next season we would be much improved team with 4  HOFers and the East's 2nd or 3rd best center. Our bench would be very deep with Bass,Pietrus,J Green, and Avery. After next season we would be again big player in the FA market and gortat is cheaper then rondo so we would actually have more available $$.

Salaries don't even begin to match up. Nash is terrible, hes a whiner, hes old, and hes barely an upgrade from Rondo. PHX wouldn't give up Nash+Gortat for a walking zombie. Nash is s**t anyway. The Celtics are NOT trading for Nash! That is a horrible move and everyone on here needs to realize that.

This trade was proposed a few weeks ago here, and I'd do it in a heart beat. Gortat would be awesome for us, and Nash is simply a superior playmaker and a vastly superior shooter. As mentioned before, the problem lies on the defensive side, but I think Nash's contributions elsewhere outweight those shortcomings. Plus, I don't like Rondo's defense anyways.

If you look above I linked the trade machine, in fact the salaries work out perfectly. You even stated "nash is barely an upgrade" the fact that he is slightly an upgrade makes us better for a final push for 18 with the big 3. The question for phoenix is Rondo or Gortat to build around. I think they might prefer rondo throw in a first and they should bite.

Nash and most below average perimeter defenders can easily be covered for by good team defense with good rotation. The celtics have both.
