If your ok with trading Rondo (im not), this is a good trade idea. However, this would destroy the clubhouse again. You can only take so many family members away from a family before they fall apart.
Not to mention we lose one of the best point guards in the game and in place get an above average center whos already almost 30. Our offense would have problems operating in the 4th.

Does anyone know of any free agents that we might have a good chance of signing not named Howard

Chandler is overpaid and not getting any younger. He's great defensively but they're on two different levels. Why do you think Dallas let him walk?

Why would we have to give up our all-star PG for Chandler when he's been had for PJ Brown, Okafor, Dampier and a trade exception in his last four moves?

2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

If Rondo is the engine that makes this team go then who replaces the engine we'd be giving up?

When did Rondo become expendable on this blog?

TP, it's sad that it's this way, but it's the reality of the blog.

Seeing this topic doesn't surprise me considering that topic about whether the team is actually better without Rondo. Just sad.

This deal makes no sense for the C's IMO.  You trade Rondo if you can get an upgrade, or if you can get multiple building blocks with more superstar potential.  This would be a sideways move at best, but will cost you more money.  And Chandler in particular might be one of the most overrated players in the league right now.

He is a great defensive player when he is at his best, but he has done that for many 2 years out of his career.  And when he is not dominating defensively, he is a liability because of his lack of offense.

Rondo is WAY more valuable then Chandler for the Rebuild phase, and cheaper to boot.

The only thing you can use him for after this season is a trade with a contender.

And during this season, he helps in the reg season. but I think they miss Rondo in the playoffs having Bradley and Moore run the point scares me long term. And Dooling just isn't the right PG for this team.

Oh and don't say we can get DWill in the off season to par with Chandler. He's not coming.

Our best hope for acquiring Chandler (other than dramatically overpaying with Rondo) would be if the Knicks continue to struggle and consider resetting around the Melo/Amare tandem (when what they should be doing is resetting around the Melo/Chandler tandem).

At that point our offer of expirings (JO, Wilcox and Dooling) + draft picks for Chandler + Balkman might be (slightly) appealing.

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari

Actually, if we wanted Chandler, we could probably get him pretty much for free this summer, by helping facilitate a 3-way trade to get Deron Williams to the Knicks.

Chandler would not be as desirable if we didn't get him this season.  This season would likely be our best shot at the title with Chandler.

When did Rondo become expendable on this blog?

Knee-jerk mentality when you are 5-8 with him and 6-2 without. Folks quickly start to cozy up to the notion that we don't need him. Time will play this out -- Rondo's value to this team is very high which does lend credence to the idea that if the C's can land an active defensive/rebounding center without losing any of the Big 4, they may actually be talented enough to contend.  Especially given that this bench could be able to preserve the Big 3's legs.

The plan should be to try to get the needed 5 without moving any of the Big 4.  That should be Plan A anyway, IMO.

Rondo for Chandler??? This is not serious. I am sure you are joking. This is (by far) the craziest and worst idea I have ever read.
